If 2017 was the year of the revelation with the bonus of obtaining the status of User Group, the year 2018 was presented mainly as the establishment for Wikimedia Guinea Conakry an official status that is realized in November 2018. The The main challenge was the establishment of a structural framework to serve the deployment of a strong and dynamic organization serving promotion missions and the free dissemination of knowledge and knowledge in Guinea and around the world.

Thus, important activities with more relevant and diversified contents and contours were carried out, demonstrating a strong commitment of the volunteers of the new Association, all with international collaboration.

Also the purpose of this document is to report on this dynamic initiated since the initiative of the project 2 years ago today.

More relevant and diverse content[edit]

In 2018, several contributions were implemented by the members of the Guinea Conakry User Group or contributors who benefited from its supervision during the wiki workshop. These contents focused on public figures, education and the agglomerations of Guinea. They have been published mainly on wikipedia.org, commons.wikimedia.org, wikibooks.org and meta.wikimedia.org in French. In addition to French, articles in English, Spanish and Portuguese on Guinea have been translated into French by the publishers of Guinea. These last ones concern mainly the Guinean cinema and the cine makers of there or Guinean origin during the month of the African cinema.

We count about twenty sympathizers, members of the User Group or having participated in these events organized by Wikimedia Community User Group Guinea Conakry. The realization of our missions was possible with the support of partners, both strategic and operational. We counted 7 partnerships that can be classified according to whether they are considered as formalized agreements, that they have simple hosts of events organized by the User Group or that they have associated us with events offering us forums promoting the free diffusion of knowledge.
