  • Still did photo trip to Karelia
  • Did university course on infographics (economics)
  • First GLAM project with museum Athenium
  • Created wikiproject for Ateneum project, that's made 30 articles.

  • New law makes it very difficult to get photos of cultural heritage. Lobbied unsuccessfuly against it.
  • Sponsored Haifa delegates.

  • October, many events, including Digital Freedom Festival
  • Hired a Chaos Manager!
  • Workshops for editors in classrooms?
  • Hired a fundraising consultancy firm
  • Partnership with Instituto di Innocenti (orphanage school)

Wikimedia Kenya

  • Home of the Big Five
  • 80 members
  • WP for School projects: using offline Wikipedia
  • Many teachers would prefer a version that is more suited to Kenyan curriculum. Working on this
  • Needed to do some computer fixing to make it work.
  • Teachers had difficulty re-installing.
  • In some schools, have over 700 students, and only about 10 computers.

Outreach:

  • Meetups in Nairobi with other like-minded organisations
  • Met up with media
  • Met up with Google Kenya
  • Country tour
  • Outreach outside Kenya, e.g. Tanzania & Botswana
  • Countrywide meetup with Google Kenya.
  • Doing some GLAM stuff soon.

Wikimedia Kasakhstan

  • Ting Chen visited and helped development.
  • Got donation of paper content to WP Kazakh
  • Samruk sponsored chapter with 100 laptops
  • Nokia donated phones to be used as prizes
  • Now Kazakh Wikipedia has 120k articles, partly due to Kazakh Encyclopedia input
  • Will host Turkic WM Conference in Amaty
  • Accepting more than 50 participants outside Kazakhstan
  • Want to get Kazakh language added to Google Translate.

WM Australia
