2024-04-10: On Friday April 5th we have introduced Wiki Loves Film concept[edit]
On Friday, 5 April, a presentation of the upcoming Wiki Loves Film challenge took place, which is a follow-up to the WikiProject Films. The event was part of the Cinema 2024 conference for cinema professionals in the programme of the Days of European Film festival. Pavel Bednařík, cheif trainer, and Jan Beránek, community activities coordinator, spoke on behalf of Wikimedia ČR. The event, attended by nearly 50 representatives of cinemas, institutions and producers, took place at the Přítomnost cinema in Prague. You can check the presentation here.

2024-04-08: Wikimedia ČR and Media olympiad 2024[edit]
On Wednesday, 27 March 2024, the final round of the Media Olympiad, organized for the second year by the Moravian-Silesian Research Library in Ostrava, culminated. In addition to experts from universities and media practice (UPOL, CTK, NFNŽ), the jury included Pavel Bednařík, the main lecturer of Wikimedia ČR. In the final round, the jury evaluated the videos of 14 teams on the topic of Digital Footprint. The competition was great this year, as the Olympiad was held nationwide for the first time. From a total of 600 schools, 14 schools were selected after the first round, the best one from each region. In Ostrava, in addition to the three preliminary rounds, a varied programme awaited them, including a workshop and a photo walk on Wikimedia Commons. In addition to the Media Olympiad, there was also a training session for libraries from the Moravian-Silesian Region, which focused on how to teach seniors to write on Wikipedia.
2024-04-07: April Wikischool: Sources on Wikipedia[edit]
What is Evening WikiSchool for seniors?It is a series of regular, specialized workshops aimed mainly at seniors, especially graduates of the beginner (and advanced) Seniors Writing Wikipedia (SePW) courses.What does the Evening WikiSchool offer?It offers the opportunity to focus on developing the specific skills that a good Wikipedian needs to do their job. We will focus on techniques and tweaks that can be used in editing practice that are not covered in detail in the Seniors Write Wikipedia courses.April's WikiSchool will focus on the cornerstone of all Wikipedia articles: references or sources. Martin Sovák, a representative of the State Regional Archives in Prague, will help us navigate the types of documents and sources we can look for in the State Regional Archives and district archives. We will also look at specific examples of available materials, using the example of already published documents from the SOA.The online workshop - Evening Wikischool for Seniors: Sources on Wikipedia - will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2024, from 5:00 to 6:30 pm.
