Communication: Technical communication (documentation)

1. What project has worked well?[edit]

  • Participation

  • Collaboration with OKFN during Summer of Code
  • Communication
  • The notification on Notifications were pretty good

2. What new ideas result from the conference? (specific to technological development)[edit]

Participation

  • Tools:
  • Reducing the barriers - eg editing tools

  • Profiles - as a means for identification and connection
  • Systemic bias - Writing scripts to query Wikidata to check systemic bias

4. What future projects should be started and who likes to take part?[edit]

Future Projects We Recommend Prioritizing

  • Diverse documentation!!!
  • Not just more extensive documentation but rather guided tours / help tips
  • Better communication about documentation tools - so people will actually use them
  • Accessible and iterative user experience
  • Feedback from regular users about the technology / including readers
  • Listening - eg. visual editor -- users can influence project development
  • Listening to these other communities -- create spaces and events where we can hear them
  • Partnerships and events
  • Feedack forms
  • Better Labs Space
  • Wikipedia Labs: prototying space
