Introduction by the host

May I invite Khun Thanee Thongpakdee to present our next award, the Alumni Community Engagement Award 2022, to Associate Professor Taweetham Limpanuparb. This award recognizes a devoted individual who has demonstrated long-term community engagement, commitment that is measurable, relevant, sustainable, reflective and reciprocal.

Associate Professor Taweetham Limpanuparb teaches chemistry at Mahidol University. He is a research scientist and teacher, but what is not on his CV is his role and impact to encourage public engagement in fact and information. The Wikimedia Foundation Inc. (WMF) recognizes the volunteer movement led by (Associate) Professor Taweetham to be an official chapter in Thailand in 2019. Within the Wikimedia community, he was elected or nominated to serve various important roles such as Administrator, CheckUser and member of the Arbitration Committee.

ขอเรียนเชิญคุณธานี ทองภักดี มอบรางวัลถัดไป รางวัลศิษย์เก่าด้านความผูกพันกับชุมชน ค.ศ. 2022 แก่รองศาสตราจารย์ทวีธรรม ลิมปานุภาพ รางวัลนี้มอบให้แก่บุคคลผู้อุทิศตนเพื่อชุมชนและแสดงความผูกพันกับชุมชนเป็นระยะเวลานาน กิจกรรมที่ทำสามารถจับต้องได้ มีความเกี่ยวข้อง มีความยั่งยืน ผ่านการทบทวนและมีการตอบรับกลับมา

รองศาสตราจารย์ทวีธรรม ลิมปานุภาพ สอนวิชาเคมีที่มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล เขาเป็นนักวิจัยทางวิทยาศาสตร์และเป็นครู แต่สิ่งที่ไม่ปรากฏในเอกสารประวัติส่วนตัวของเขาคือบทบาทและผลกระทบที่เขาสนับสนุนให้สาธารณชนสนใจในความจริงและสารสนเทศ มูลนิธิวิกิมีเดียยอมรับกลุ่มอาสาสมัครที่นำโดยอาจารย์ทวีธรรมให้เป็นสาขาอย่างเป็นทางการเมื่อ ค.ศ. 2019 ภายในชุมชนวิกิมีเดียเขาได้รับเลือกหรือได้รับการเสนอชื่อให้มีบทบาทที่สำคัญหลายอย่าง เช่น ผู้ดูแลระบบ ผู้ตรวจสอบผู้ใช้ และคณะอนุญาโตตุลาการ

Speech by the awardee

Your Excellency Australian Ambassador to Thailand, President of Australian Alumni Association (Thailand) and Australian-Thai Chamber of Commerce, Award recipients, ladies and gentlemen.

I feel humbled and very honoured to receive the Alumni Community Engagement Award tonight.

First, my sincere appreciation goes to the organizers. I was thrilled to be interviewed by the selection committee and to be among the distinguished award recipients. I have read many articles by Khun Pichai and Ajarn Pasuk but have never had a chance to meet in person and converse with them before.

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to dedicate this award to volunteers from Wikimedia Thailand. This is the first significant recognition that we, the anonymous online volunteers, have ever received for writing and curating contents on the Thai Wikipedia and sister projects. We hope that the recognition today will be the first step to bring in more volunteers and supporters to the free knowledge movement in Thailand.

ผมรู้สึกเป็นคนธรรมดาที่ได้รับเกียรติอย่างยิ่งให้ได้รับรางวัลศิษย์เก่าด้านความผูกพันกับชุมชนในค่ำคืนนี้

ก่อนอื่น ผมรู้สึกซาบซึ้งอย่างยิ่งกับคณะผู้จัดงาน ผมตื่นเต้นที่ได้รับการสัมภาษณ์จากคณะกรรมการคัดเลือกและได้อยู่ท่ามกลางผู้มีเกียรติที่ได้รับรางวัล ผมเคยอ่านบทความหลายชิ้นที่เขียนโดยคุณพิชัยและอาจารย์ผาสุก แต่ยังไม่เคยได้พบตัวจริงและพูดคุยกันมาก่อน

ยิ่งไปกว่านั้น ผมอยากใช้โอกาสนี้เพื่ออุทิศรางวัลให้แก่อาสาสมัครจากวิกิมีเดียประเทศไทย นี่คือการยอมรับครั้งสำคัญครั้งแรก ที่พวกเรา อาสาสมัครในโลกออนไลน์ที่ไร้ชื่อเสียงเรียงนาม ได้รับสำหรับการเขียนและการดูแลเนื้อหาในวิกิพีเดียภาษาไทยและโครงการพี่น้อง เราหวังว่าการยอมรับในวันนี้จะเป็นก้าวแรกที่นำพาอาสาสมัครและผู้สนับสนุนเข้ามาเพิ่มเติมให้กับกลุ่มขบวนการความรู้เสรีในประเทศไทย
