Wikipedia and Digital Literacy

This session will focus on how Wikipedia can be used as a teaching and learning tool to enhance students’ digital capabilities, using a recent module delivered by the University of Derby as a case study. The module was mapped against JISC’s ‘Building Digital Capabilities’ Framework, and aimed at improving students’ writing, digital and collaborative skills. Students’ confidence in their digital capabilities were surveyed before and after the module, and the results show that confidence increased in every single category.
