WLM Award Winning Ceremony

The Award Winning Ceremony for WLM took place on Nov. 17 at the Hofburg in Vienna. Many prize winners attended the ceremony and their prizes were handed over to them by Sue Gardner, executive director of WM Foundation, and Barabara Neubauer, president of the federal office for the monuments of Austria.

After the ceremony a meeting of the board members of WMAT with Sue Gardner, Geoff Brigham and other representatives of the WM Foundation has been held in the Ahnensaal of the Hofburg.

Preparations for the General Assembly

All reports for 2010/2011 have been approved by the board during some meetings in November. The Assembly will take place in Vienna on Dec. 10 at Amerlinghaus.

Tool server

The tool server, operated by WMDE in Amsterdam, and used by many Wikimedians of different Chapters and Wikimedia projects will be supported in 2011 and 2012 by funds of WMAT. 2,000 Euro for each year have to be transferred to WMDE for that purpose.

Universities and Schools

Activities at Universities and Schools will be supported in Austria in cooperation with the programs of WMDE. Presentations will be held at the University of Vienna, the University for Medicine in Vienna, the University of Applied Sciences in Vorarlberg, the University of Innsbruck and the University of Graz. Some pilot projects will be held in schools in January 2012 in Vienna. Different grades of students in that schools will be informed of working with Wikipedia for their pre-scientific papers..

Meetings in Austria

Meetings of Wikipedians in Vienna and Graz are organized in preparation of the General Assembly on Nov. 2. In Lower Austria Wikipedians met in the Abbey of Göttweig to visit the famous old library there on Nov. 19. In Vorarlberg Wikipedians will meet during the Linux-Day at the FH Vorarlberg in Dornbirn on Nov. 26. WMAT had an info-desk there.

Meetings in Slovakia

WMAT supports the work of the Wikipedians in Slovakia (sk.wikipedia). Several meetings took place in Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia, with participation of Wikipedians of Austria, transferring knowledge and experience. Cooperation with Open Street Map and other open projects could be established.
