- Wikimedia Australia announced a half-price membership renewal until June 30
- Wikimedia Australia commissioned Michael Everson to prepare a writing system strategy document in consultation with the Wikimedia Language Committee, to be published on Meta.
- Wikimedia Australia committee approved a US$300 travel grant to allow key people to meet in Indonesia to discuss potential Batak script usage in Wikimedia projects.
- 16 May - Craig Franklin and John Vandenberg ran two training sessions at w:State Library of Queensland, South Brisbane. The morning session was attended by 17 SLQ staff. The afternoon session was attended by 14 staff from a range of SLQ stakeholders and collaborators, and two students from QUT.
- 23 - Second project meeting for v:The History of the Paralympic Movement in Australia at University of Canberra
- 25-27 May - Meta 2011 conference at Canberra. Wikimedia Australia sponsored the conference[1], and offered substantial discounts to the attendance costs.[2] Siska Doviana and John Vandenberg attended. John presented a session on non-profits & government organisations integrating Wikimedia into their social engagement activity, and using the linked data created from it.
