report for December 2017
Community and Participation
The Erfgoedhuis Zuid-Holland, a Dutch heritage organisation, made some 200 images on the Dutch part of the Limes available on Wikimedia Commons. The images depict Roman re-enactment scenes, artifacts, and some digital reconstructions of Roman buildings. A subset of this collection comes from the image library of the Dutch National Antiquities Museum, which recently made its images available under a CC-BY license. The entire collection on Wikimedia Commons can be accessed here, the sub-collection from the antiquities museum can be found here.
The Gendergap workgroup is facilitating the #100wikiwomen challenge, which is running smoothly. We held our monthly Wikivrijdag and WikiZaterdag. We are proud of the results in 2017, not only have we encouraged people to edit on Wikipedia; Wikidata, edits on Wikimedia Commons are now to be found in our results list. This workgroup of volunteers is active for more then 2 years now. We do notice that the current members have changes in their personal live and as a result of that they do not have as much time to work on the project as they used to have in the beginning of this project. The workgroup has decided to reach out to new members for the gendergap workgroup.
We received good news: The WikiVrijdag sessions at Atria will continue in 2018. The board of Atria is very positive about the Wikivrijdag sessions in their library.
Gendergap Hackathon / Wikivrouwen Tech Storm
The first workgroup meeting took place, we have discussed the focus and target groups of the event. Our next meeting will be in the beginning of januari, we will discuss timelines and tasks then. In the meantime, we will start looking for venues for our Wikivrouwen Tech Storm.
