Writing weeks and Wikicompetitions[edit]

International Museum Day 2022 - Wikidata challenge[edit]

As part of International Museum Day, the Museum Day Wikidata Competition took place from 4 to 18 May. It improved Wikidata content about museums and related objects, people and events, from all participating countries and regions. This year there were 971 participants worldwide, of which about half were new editors. In the Netherlands, the ratio was slightly different: 41 participants and 11 new editors. Curious about the results and winners? Take a look at this Wikidata page.

Impact | The Netherlands and the world[edit]

Wiki goes Caribbean[edit]

On Saturday 18 June the online Wiki goes Caribbean meeting was all about nature. During this meeting, everyone could start adding Papiamento words for animals and plants to Wikidata, Wikipedia's database.

Cooperation with partners[edit]

Wikipedia/Wikidata Workshop[edit]

The staff of the Utrecht-based consultancy PD-value attended a Wikipedia/Wikidata workshop at Wikimedia Netherlands on 9 May. The international team at PD-value works on translational medicine, general pharmacometrics and systems biology, and specialises in model building and development. During the workshop, articles were written on PK-PD modelling, TMDD and information was added to articles on Triple-deck theory and Flux balance analysis. Translations of the article on PD/PK models were also published on the Turkish and Portuguese Wikipedia. The PD-value team is highly motivated to contribute to the dissemination of their specialist knowledge to a wider audience, now also through Wikipedia.

Communication and publicity[edit]

Wikikring Twente[edit]

The Hengelo Library organises the monthly Wikikring Twente. During this meeting participants write together for Wikipedia, for example about Twente. RTV Oost visited Wikikring in April and interviewed some creators of Wikipedia pages.

WikiVrijdagen[edit]

In the libraries of Atria, the knowledge institute for women and emancipation history and IHLIA LGBTI Heritage in Amsterdam, people regularly meet to narrow the gender gap on Wikipedia. It's one of Wikipedia's knowledge gaps: the relative underrepresentation of biographies about women or articles on topics that are described as 'typically feminine'. WikiFridays happen once a month, this quarter on April 22, May 20 and June 17.
