This is a proposal for a new Wikimedia sister project.

Project description	A guide and archive for materials relating to all forms of 'exotica' created in the pursuit of human expression, including but not limited to fiction, film and artworks made in the best possible taste.

Potential number of languages	(see below) Initialy English, but willing to consider other languages if interest.
Proposed tagline	The free guide to open expression.
Proposed URL	.wikiotica.org
Technical requirements
New features to require	Current media-wiki installations would be able to cope. There may be need for slightly finer control of image categorisations and 'abuse-filter' controls, given the intended content.
Additional project settings	Local images would be enabled, but with positive encouragements for appropriate free media to be placed on Commons as with other WMF projects

Proposal

The proposal is for a specialist site that could exist to cater to the more adult orientated research interests that some in the Wikimedia community have. Whilst there are existing external archives which cover parts of the intended Wikiotica project, coverage of 'exotica' is currently distributed across a number of disparate projects, whose policy on such content are widly varying and not always consistently applied.

It would also mean that certain valued contributions to Commons, which do not currently have scope on Commons (and which are 'explicitly' noted in policy as often being out of scope there.) could be transwikied to a 'more appropriate' project that had relevant policy in place to cope with them.

Domain name

wikiotica.org

Multi-Lingual

Initally thius project would be English, but could over time be expanded to other languages such as German, Dutch, Swedish etc as available archive material and user contributions permit.
