November 2016 is the Wikipedia Asian Month. The Wikiproject Women in Red (WiR) also announced it the Asian Women Month.

Women in Red (WiR) is an initiative to help turn the "redlinks" of women's name (and related subjects) into blue ones, as an endeavour to bridge the Gender Gap of Wikipedia.

From 1 November to 30 November, 2016, we encourage participants to improve the encyclopedia's coverage on Asian subjects, with an emphasis on those related to Asian women. This can be anything from Asian women's biographies, to their work, or women-related issues in Asia (see Wikipedia Asian Month Rules). Participants who create four articles in accordance with the rules will receive a special Asian Women Month barnstar.

Although this global edit-a-thon is virtual, we as Wikiwomen in Bangalore, India are excited to hold an offline event on 27 November, 2016 to mark a great end for the initiative. Wikipedians of all levels are eligible to join (even if you had never edited before) - all you need is a registered username. Both male and female Wikipedians are welcomed. Food and refreshment will be provided. Come join us for a fun day of editing, sharing thoughts, and great vibes!
