CIS-A2K/Events/Wikisource and Wiki technical session at MKCL, Pune
Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) is involved in developing knowledge resource in the form of training modules, Open Educational Resources (OER), digitisation of book collections, multi-media content and website development. The management members expressed their willingness to contribute in Wikimedia projects. To start this process, three coordinators were introduced to processes in Commons, Wikisource and Wikipedia.
Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) is institutional partner of CIS-A2K for the last two years. MKCL supported in scanning of old Marathi books, training of community in digitisation process and offered their conference rooms for workshops. The Wikipedia tutorials were also developed with MKCL. Apart from these events, to involve MKCL in larger Wikimedia movement this orientation session for small team was planned.

MKCL is promoting Marathi knowledge on web through different digitisation projects. One of the recent project is to creation of web portal on Vinoba Bhave's literature. CIS-A2K is collaborating with MKCL for the last two years. It is proposed to re-license some of the digitised content by MKCL and upload it to Commons & Wikisource. MKCL has also prepared many open educational resources for their technical courses. To explore all these possibilities, MKCL invited CIS-A2K to conduct this orientation session for their technical team handling these projects. In this session, basics of Wikimedia Commons, various templates, license tags, Wikisource process and some aspects of MediaWiki were demonstrated. As this was the first exposure of this team to Wikimedia projects, more interactive method was followed.
