CIS-A2K (Centre for Internet and Society - Access to Knowledge) is a campaign to promote the fundamental principles of justice, freedom, and economic development. It deals with issues like copyrights, patents and trademarks, which are an important part of the digital landscape.

CIS-A2K events

CIS-A2K team regularly organizes and supports events,workshops and seminars. Either they directly organize these events or provides support to the organizers (financial, non-financial, technical and others) to the organizers.

While organizing/supporting an event,CIS-A2K team tries to completely follow their mission statements—

  1. supporting and serving the Wikimedia communities;
  2. building institutional partnerships;
  3. bringing more content under free license;
  4. designing and executing projects with community participation;
  5. strengthening the Wikimedia volunteers; and
  6. fostering and enabling an appropriate legal and technological ecosystem.

Wiki Workshop at Tumkur University

On 15 September 2012, a Kannada Wiki Workshop was organized at Tumkur University, Karnataka. This was the first Kannada Wikipedia workshop at Tumkur CIS-A2K team organized a series of Wiki and other events at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Hyderabad. At the end of September On 26–27 (same year), CIS-A2K team organized a hackathon event at the same institute. These were the first few events organized/supported by CIS-A2K.

In 2012 CIS-A2K team organized or supported 12 events. In 2013 CIS-A2K organized or worked on 68 real-life or online events, workshops or seminars. The first event of the year was a Wiki Workshop at Raj Kumar Goel Institute of Technology, Ghaziabad on 17 January (2013). The last event of the year was a Kannada Wikipedia Workshop at Alvas Vishva Nudisiri Virasat 2013 program at Moodabidre, that was organized on 20 December.

Wikipedian speakers at Swatantra 2014

In 2013 CIS-A2K organized/powered 67 events. On January 13—15 CIS-A2K did wrapping up work with Vishwakosh Volume 1, and 3 participants. On 18–20 December 2014 they powered Swatantra 2014 and supported Indian Wikipedians to join the event.

The first event organized by CIS-A2K in 2015 was a Telugu Wikipedia Workshop at Govt Degree College, Khairatabad, Hyderabad on 3 January. That was followed by 2 Kannada Wikipedia workshops at SDM College, Ujire and St Aloysius College, Mangaluru and a couple of Kannada Wikipedia presentations between 21–28 January. On 11 and 12 February Telugu Wikipedia's 11th anniversary was celebrated in Tirupati. On the same days they powered Hindi Wikisammelan in Delhi. On 26 February to 1 March, they organized Train the Trainer 2015. In June, CIS-A2K organized a MediaWiki train the Trainer program

In 2017, CIS-A2K started a new approach by having towards FLA's by providing Community advocates. Due to this number of activities conducted in community-level increased gradually. CIS-A2K conducted more than 35 training workshops across the FLA's and conducted TTT and MWT at a national level and also in the original level.
