This language has been verified as eligible. The language is eligible for a project, which means that the subdomain can be created once there is an active community and a localized interface, as described in the language proposal policy. You can discuss the creation of this language project on this page. Once the criteria are met, the language committee can proceed with the approval. If you think the criteria are met, but the project is still waiting for approval, feel free to notify the committee and ask them to consider its approval. |
- The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
- The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
- The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:
What | Value | Example / Explanation |
---|
Proposal | ||
---|---|---|
Language code | cdo (SIL, Glottolog) | A valid ISO 639-1 or 639-3 language code, like "fr", "de", "nso", ... |
Language name | Min Dong | Language name in English |
Language name | Mìng-dĕ̤ng-ngṳ̄ | Language name in your language. This will appear in the language list on Special:Preferences, in the interwiki sidebar on other wikis, ... |
Language Wikidata item | Q36455 - item has currently the following values:
|
Item about the language at Wikidata. It would normally include the Wikimedia language code, name of the language, etc. Please complete at Wikidata if needed. |
Directionality | LTR | Is the language written from left to right (LTR) or from right to left (RTL)? |
Site URL | cdo.wikisource.org | langcode.wikiproject.org |
Settings | ||
---|---|---|
Project name | "Wikisource" in your language | |
Project namespace | usually the same as the project name | |
Project talk namespace | "Wikisource talk" (the discussion namespace of the project namespace) | |
Enable uploads | no | Default is "no". Preferably, files should be uploaded to Commons. If you want, you can enable local file uploading, either by any user ("yes") or by administrators only ("admin").
Notes: (1) This setting can be changed afterwards. The setting can only be "yes" or "admin" at approval if the test creates an Exemption Doctrine Policy (EDP) first. (2) Files on Commons can be used on all Wikis. (3) Uploading fair-use images is not allowed on Commons (more info). (4) Localisation to your language may be insufficient on Commons. |
Optional settings | ||
Project logo | This needs to be an SVG image (instructions for logo creation). | |
Default project timezone | Asia/Shanghai | "Continent/City", e.g. "Europe/Brussels" or "America/Mexico City" (see list of valid timezones) |
Additional namespaces | For example, a Wikisource would need "Page", "Page talk", "Index", "Index talk", "Author", "Author talk". | |
Additional settings | Anything else that should be set | |
Proposal
[edit]Much written material of Min Dong is available, and Min Dong Wikisource will certainly let more people know about it. Previous discussions are all positive. --GnuDoyng 13:55, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]Arguments in favor
[edit]- Strong support Min Dong, like Min Nan, has plenty of speakers, some people may have encrypted writings which can be used for the development of this Wikisource.A-yao 01:16, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- Support It's better to have an independent site now. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 03:14, 2 December 2017 (UTC)

Arguments against
[edit]{{oppose}}: Please start inserting new texts at the http://wikisource.org; See also http://wikisource.org/wiki/Wikisource:Language_domain_requests/Rules_for_voting. 555 02:46, 1 December 2006 (UTC)I'm removing the oppose due to this (I don't have anything against this language, I only need to all going to be done orderly) 555 23:57, 1 April 2007 (UTC)- Oppose: per 555. --Aphaia 08:56, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose per above. Please go to Multilingual Wikisource first.--Jusjih 15:20, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose - only a Bible being contributed so far. Please obtain more contributors, and a wider selection of texts. John Vandenberg 11:23, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose, this project has now been proposed almost three years ago and the localisation is still very bad and the test project is quite empty and inactive. --OosWesThoesBes 13:36, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- As a proposal it is valid. Opposing it because of a lack of activity does not change it. It will just not be considered for as long as the requirements have not been met. Given the status of eligibility opposing is pointless anyway. Thanks, GerardM 19:46, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
General discussion
[edit]- Gnu Doyng, Would you please give examples of what you are going to put there?----Hillgentleman 16:53, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- Gnu Doyng, is there a chinese form of fuzhou hua? I'm a fuzhounese, but i have difficult time reading romanized fuzhounese, it would be really helpful if you put up a chinese version of fuzhounese. I know there is one, cus i saw it on a teaching website... —unsigned by 66.21.135.231 04:44, 26 November 2006.
- Hello, for your interest, please check out this link: http://seng-ging.spaces.live.com/
- This is where I put Min Dong Bible text before the "cdo.wikisource.org" is granted. --GnuDoyng 11:21, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'm putting text here: [1], since I must work on wikisource.org first. --GnuDoyng 15:28, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Localisation effort
[edit]Currently 38.57% of the MediaWiki messages and 5.23% of the messages used in the extensions used by the Wikimedia Foundation have been localised at Betawiki. Thanks, GerardM 07:22, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
