Wikimania 2005 was held in Frankfurt am Main from 4-8 August 2005.

Program:
- Keynote speakers: Jimmy Wales, Ward Cunningham, Richard Stallman, Ross Mayfield
- Program information: Researchers and speakers presented studies and experiments on Wikipedia and other projects operated by the Wikimedia Foundation, on wiki culture and technology, and on the world of free knowledge. The program included presentations, workshops, and tutorials to give an overview of the current state of research on wikis and free knowledge projects.

- Pre- and post- conferences: A separate hacking days session for MediaWiki software developers and Wikimedia hardware maintainers was held on August 1-3.
