This page enables stewards to handle permissions requests, including the giving and taking of administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights, for all Wikimedia wikis which do not have a local permissions procedure. 'If your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (see the index of request pages). Requests for bot status, URL blacklisting and whitelisting, and CheckUser queries belong elsewhere.

For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewards IRC channel (see a web-based IRC client). In emergencies only, type !steward in the channel to inform stewards that you need help.

Please only make requests here after gaining the approval of your local community.

When requesting permissions, copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Please fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the local request, and link to your local user page. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request.

Administrator access

See administrator for information about the position. Requests for temporary permissions and removal of access belong in other sections.

Simple English Wikipedia

I request sysop access.

I am a very good user on English Wikipedia. There are only 3 bcrats on this wiki. Thank you. Pikminlover 00:10, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. Please see Wikipedia:Administrators and bureaucrats.--Shanel 00:21, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a list of wikis WITH bureaucrats? drini [es:] [commons:] 04:25, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Dunno for the list, but you can check the local Special:listusers/bureaucrat. guillom 08:17, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Arabic wikibooks

I request administrator access. The vote took place here.

Thank you. --Mimouni 16:03, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like your request is only a day old. The vote should go at least a week, after which you will become and admin.--Cspurrier 23:18, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I confirm the Request for giving wikibooks:ar:مستخدم:ميموني and wikibooks:ar:مستخدم:Alnokta adminship status in Arabic wikibooks according to the vote here [1] many thanks --Chaos 23:46, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mimouni is now a sysop.--Shanel 00:14, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! --Mimouni 08:22, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Inuktitut Wikipedia

I would like to request permanent sysop status for iu:User:Qrc2006. He has recently revived the Inuktitut language edition and is the only active user who speaks Inuktitut. He has since put great efforts into turning what was a collection of sub-stubs into something that could one day become a real encyclopaedia. At present, the only other sysop iu:User:Thogo is absent and this situation might continue for a while, during which spam keeps accumulating on that Wiki. I have asked him, whether he would agree to volunteer as admin [2], and he has agreed. [3] Since he is the only active user (except for Thogo, Steinbach and me, who just help a little bit but do not understand any Inuktitut), holding regular admin elections makes very little sense.--Johannes Rohr 21:06, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Language Code: iu
  • Local Request Page: (none)
  • Local User Page: iu:User:Qrc2006.
Done - for three months. If no other active fluent speakers turn up in that time, we can consider making him a permanent sysop. Regards — Dan | talk 16:04, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! --Johannes Rohr 16:33, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Klingon Wiktionary

I request sysop access.

There are currently no sysops (other then Brion) and no bureaucrats on this project. We have over 600 articles, and growing, which is more than some other constructed languages. Please give us a chance to prove ourselves.

I am a sysop on English Wiktionary.

Thank you. Jonathan Webley 21:25, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm, I dont know whether this wiki should be closed though... (like tlhwiki) Effeietsanders 23:18, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aromanian Wikipedia

I request admin acces.

The Aromanian wikipedia is oftenly vandalised and there seems to be no admins present, to block vandalisers and to protect some pages. I've developed recenty a work of reorganising the pages and it is quite uncomfortable to work in vain.

I am a at Romanian Wikipedia as well as the English and Aromanian one. The latter also with 86.125.115.123 IP.

  • Language Code: roa-rup
  • Local Request Link: (none)
  • Local User Page: ro:User:Alex:D

Strong oppose - POV pusher and no vandalism (he's claiming adminship under false pretext). See also the discussion here. He can't even speak the language.--Slavomakedonec 23:23, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your only contributions were REI-ing the pages, so you shouldn't be so brave. At least i'm trying to do something there. And take a look at other wikipedias don't POV me.ro:User:Alex:D
REI is the correct Aromanian usage as specified by a native speaker. Pushing Romanian agenda on the Aromanian Wikipedia is the last thing anyone needs.--Slavomakedonec 23:31, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not done Please first gain consensus within the community. Effeietsanders 23:28, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The only little problem is There is no community!!! All you can see there are bots and reverts.ro:User:Alex:D
Then why's an admin needed bearing in mind that the problems you claim adminship for are non-existent?--Slavomakedonec 23:31, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
When you come and do repeated POV changes in original pages there is a problem (called vandalism). I don't care if you do it 100 times. That is not a constructive mode to build that wp. I don't know some words in aromanian but I can fully understand the texts (obviously,. I'm a romanian) and it will be no problem to use it. Plus, that is Aromanian wikipedia. Not vlach or other nicknames. Example of vandalism: [4] Still, the macedonian constitution speak about Macedonian language, as oficial one. You are just trying to make them bulgarians (sort of).ro:User:Alex:D
You have been told before, I shall tell you again. There is no such thing as "machedonica" in the Aromanian language. Confirmed by a native speaker. Aromanians call that language vurgãreashce, and call the language of Bulgaria vurgarica (I'm suprised you're not trying to impose the Romanian bulgară word for that as well). Aren't Aromanians entitled to their own vocabulary??? Only foreign Romanian words must be used. Sorry, edits you disagree with are not necessarily vandalism.--Slavomakedonec 00:03, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucrat access

See bureaucrat for information about the position.

CheckUser access

To request CheckUser information, see Request for CheckUser information. This is the place to request CheckUser access. Note that temporary CheckUser access is not permitted.

Stewards: When someone asks for CheckUser status, please check the current policy regarding bestowal of status before giving the status. Breaching these rules may be cause for removing your steward access. When you give someone CheckUser, please list them on CheckUser, ask them to subscribe to checkuser-l, and email checkuser-l-owner@wikipedia.org so that the listadmins know the person is allowed on the mailing list (the list may contain confidential information).

Oversight access

Do not initiate an oversight request here. The Arbitration Committee will make the request once there is consensus on the local wiki (this process is currently for en-Wikipedia only).

Stewards: When you give someone oversight access, list them on Hiding revisions.

Removal of access

You may request that your own access be removed here; stewards will grant such requests immediately if you provide proof that you are the same user on meta as on your local wiki. This may be accomplished most easily by placing a note in English on your local talk page confirming your request.

To request the removal of another user's status, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. All discussion must be kept on your local wiki. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, a trusted person from that wiki should provide a link here to the discussion, a very brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion.

Technical glitch. drini [es:] [commons:] 03:45, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the response. Just to clarify and make sure that it is indeed not updated: the log shows that Jon Harald Søby changed group membership for User:Essjay@metawiki from boardvote, sysop to boardvote . Is there no log for showing removal of boardvote? Thanks for the clarification. Flcelloguy (A note?) 03:52, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The boardvote level has been removed from the interface (it is presumable archaic? I don't know why), so it was impossible for us to do it; brion removed it manually. Jon Harald Søby 03:56, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary permissions for emergency or technical purposes

If you are requesting administrator status to make a translation of the wiki interface, see also the BetaWiki project, which seeks to make a neutral MediaWiki translation that will then be default for all wikis. That is more useful than only making a local translation. You can ask questions in the IRC channel or in the mailing list. See also MediaWiki localisation.

Stewards: Currently active temporary permissions are listed at /Approved temporary. When granting a request, please copy the request to the appropriate section there, and clearly state the date of removal. Requests only need remain listed below for a few days, and may afterward be removed as long as they have been copied to the subpage.

Wikibooks Alemannics

I request sysop access.

I would like request sysop access for a year, because the Wikibooks Alemannics has just started in january 2007, and then I can better to build the Alemannic Wikibooks. The Wikibooks has only one sysop. There are a problem, because there are some pages, that should deleted, and anybody can delete those pages.

I need the admin rights to be able to use the transwiki import from German Wikibooks and German Wikipedia to the Alemanics wikibooks, the text will be translated in Alemannics from the Alemannics Users...I didn't request the temporarily one because I think I will need it again.. Thank you.Greifensee 22:05, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please gain consensus in your community, and apply for normal adminship. Effeietsanders 09:52, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Greifensee: Import is not active by default. You need adminship and you must ask a developer for enable it. An other solution is the user group import, but I dont think that this is a good idea.
Effeietsanders: Which comunity? At the moment you speak to all active members of the alemannic wikibooks community (I mean User Greifensee), see b:als:Spezial:Letzte Änderungen.
-- MichaelFrey 16:01, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I asked Civvi to report only to me the IP of a moving page vandal for the it.wiki. This is an anti-vandalism emergency measure, and I have checked for any present CU and/or bureaucrat on #wikipedia-it IRC channel in advance. --M/ 23:08, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am an administrator on the Alemannic Wikipedia (als:Benutzer:Chlämens) and support Greifensee's request for Admin-status. He seems to be the main [only?] person interested in getting the project off the ground and should be given all the help he needs to do so. The Alemannic Wikipedia is the umbrella project for the other Alemannic-language projects anyway (none of which are active yet), so community support would mean community support on Wikipedia. --Clemens 03:27, 27 February 2007 (UTC) Fetter Text[reply]

Done granted initially for 3 months. User is the most active on wiki and the only current administrator has made just 2 edits in 6 months. Please come back after the time expires and tell us about your work. Expires 1 June 2007 drini [es:] [commons:] 01:37, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

thank you! Greifensee 06:33, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is a problem, because I can't make Inter-Wikis, could you please show, what's the reason is, that I can't make Import?

That are written, when I want make an Import:

Seiten importieren Us Wikibooks Hops zue: Navigation, Suech Für den Transwiki-Import sind keine Quellen definiert. Das direkte Hochladen von Versionen ist gesperrt.

Vun "http://als.wikibooks.org/wiki/Spezial:Importieren"

Greifensee 07:44, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

@Greifensee:
RTFM I wrote the reason (it's not enabled by default) and the solution (ask a Developer)
But: I don't think that this is a good idea, because the alemanisch Wikibooks is at the moment the german wikibooks translated into alemenic ... Including technichal texts (I'm an technician student in switzerland and can tell, nobody read or write such textes in alemanic ...), rules, conventions, candidats for deletion and so on ...

Wikipedia Corsican

I request sysop access. I'm the co:User:Santista1982. The Corsican Wikipedia don't have a administrator and need it urgently because have many and many articles to delete and need other things.

Thank you. 89.101.196.12 14:02, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A temp adminship is granted for three months (expires 2007 06 03), but I recommend that you create your user page on the local wiki and setup a sysop election page.
