Description

Climate change in Africa is an increasingly serious threat in Africa which is among the most vulnerable continents to the effects of climate change. Some sources even classify Africa as "the most vulnerable continent on Earth"

This vulnerability is driven by a range of factors that include weak adaptive capacity, high dependence on ecosystem goods for livelihoods, and less developed agricultural production systems. The risks of climate change on agricultural production, food security, water resources and ecosystem services will likely have increasingly severe consequences on lives and sustainable development prospects in Africa. With high confidence, it was projected by the IPCC in 2007/2022 that in many African countries and regions, agricultural production and food security would probably be severely compromised by climate change and climate variability

Context

This project will be a day training and Edit a thon that will focus on creating and translating item description on wikidata on Climate Change to Igbo language . The aims/goals are ;

-Recruiting new participants to join in contributing to Sustainable environment.

-Adding the following;

1.Climate statistics and data from the African Union database to Wikidata.

2. Local climate activists and environmental experts to Wikidata, etc.

3. We would also translate the description of 1,2 items on Wikidata.

Accuratecy051

Accuratecy051 is the Organizer who will be facilitating on Editing wikidata.He is an Experienced Wikimedian who loves Contributing to data to open knowledge .He is a linguist who loves Contributing to language visibility and Environment Sustainability. A member of the Nigeria Wikimedians Usergroup and Igbo Wikimedians Usergroup. I specialise on editing wikidata. Accuratecy051 is also one of the facilitator of Igbo Wikidata Hub.

Ogalihillary

Ogalihillary is an experienced wikimedian who loves editing projects of wikimedia, he edit mostly wikipedia, wikidata and wikimedia commons. He is a member of Igbo Wikimedians Usergroup, he is currently undergoing a mentonship program under the Igbo wikicommons Hub on how to facilitate wikimedia projects and becoming an excellent contributor to wikimedia commons and wikimedia at large.
