The Bugema University Diaspora student association is organizing a word-a-thon event to raise awareness about environmental issues in Diaspora and in South Sudan. The event aims to bring together students, academics, and experts to write articles on climate change. Bugema University is a private Christian university located in Uganda, East Africa. We have a large population of students from different African countries who are passionate about environmental issues and are committed to creating a sustainable future for Africa.
Goals and Objectives:
The word-a-thon event aims to achieve the following goals and objectives:
- Raise awareness about environmental issues in Diaspora and in South Sudan, particularly climate change and its impact on local communities
- Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among students, academics, and experts in the field of environmental sustainability.
- Empower Diaspora students to become environmental and leaders and advocates for sustainable development in their home countries.
Also this project is a good place to participants to talk with, to exchange the ideas from our community member how to protect climate and environment in our movement strategies. in after all this session will help the participants or community to learn more about Wikipedia in general and also to increase the content on South Sudan Wikipedia.

The event will take place over two days, with the first day dedicated to workshops and training sessions on writing and editing Wikipedia articles. The second day will be the Word-a-thon, where participants will write articles related to climate change, environmental issues, and sustainability.
This project will facilitate to recruit new volunteers and improving the skills of existing volunteers about Wikimedia, Wikidata and South Sudan Wikipedia contents about climate change and weather activists in South Sudan, environment activities and environmental protection companies Wikidata and at the end we will give prizes.

George Levi username, user: George Levi have organized trainings on wikidata both online and physical, participated in wiki4Refugees in Uganda and wiki for human rights 2022 in south Sudan.
Ceaser Philip username, participated in Wikimedia programs like wiki for human rights 2022 in south Sudan and he is the lead Diaspora student.
The funds will be transferred to George Levi's bank account.
