Description

The project will simply focus on improving & create Nigeria environmental topics on Wikipedia and most importantly recruit more environmental editors in Nigeria in collaboration with Eleven Eleven Twelve Foundation a foremost environmental organization in Nigeria.

According to English Wikipedia category, we only have 16 Nigerians environmentalists and 2 climate activists on enWiki. So, this project is simply to change that narrative of training climate activists and personnels provided by Eleven Eleven Twelve Foundation on how to contribute to Wikipedia so they can change the narrative

Context

The project will be in from of a 2 days in-person training and edit a thon. First day will be to train and introduce & refresh members on how to contribute to Wikipedia while the 2nd day will be simply for contributing to the affected climate topics.

The program will also be in partnership with Eleven Eleven Twelve Foundation which will act as the institutional partner to provide all members and free venue to be used.

• Dfertileplain, she will lead this project, she is a climate activist. She has experiences contributing to Wikimedia project.
• Ei'eke; experienced Wikipedia contributor. Will support the project as a co-facilitator.

• This is an individual project

Fallout

• Creating and improving Wikipedia articles on climate and environment related contents about Nigeria for global visibility.
• Recruit new climate personnel as editors.
• Train existing editors from previous Wiki For Black Climate program in Nigeria

At the end of this project, the following targets are expected to have been met.

• Number of Participants - 30
• Number of new editors - 20
• Number of Wikipedia article created and improved - 300+
