Here you can find a number of links and information pertaining to the Wikimedia Blog, the Wikimedia Foundation's official blog which also functions as a hub for news and stories from the entire Wikimedia movement.
The blog was relaunched with a new design on July 31, 2014. The announcement blog post contains information about the redesign and the new features it introduced.
Drafting a post
YOU! Yes… you reading this page, may draft a post. Anyone can draft a post suggestion. So go ahead, give it a try! :)
Once you have posted a draft, please send an email to the Communications team at the Wikimedia Foundation so they can review the post and prepare it for upload to the blog.
Also, please sign your post and list your affiliation (e.g. "Armenian Wikipedia editor" or "Wikisource contributor" or "President, Wikimedia Sverige" etc)
Once a post is edited, the blog team will convert the wikicode into blog HTML.
Comments must (a) be on-topic (b) be civil in tone (c) contain no personal attacks. Currently (August 2014) all comments are published immediately — after solving a captcha - but may be moderated afterwards.
We welcome translations of articles for the blog and we often mark articles for translation and send out notifications to volunteer translators. If you prefer to do a first draft in a language other than English, please feel encouraged to do so, but please also include your best translation in English. We can always improve the English translation, but it is helpful to have it as a starting point.
The code for the current theme will be published on GitHub soon. Bugs can be filed on Phabricator. The code for the old (until July 2014) theme is still is available for download here from the Wikimedia git repository.
