Report[edit]

Amnesty International held a global level program called Brave:Edit. As a support, national sections from different countries conducted edit-a-thon programs. In India, this campaign was promoted by Amnesty International India. When Amnesty International India showed interest in partnership with A2K, we supported with our resources.

Pre-event[edit]

When we had met with Amnesty edit-a-thon organisers we suggested conducting pre-event to run edit-a-thon smoothly. So there was a pre-event session on 11 May 2018 at Amnesty International office from 2 PM to 5 PM. In that event, around 15 participants were attended. In that, we thought the basics of Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects. In the basics of Wikipedia we thought how to edit, what can be edited and what not. What is important and what topics should be covered in a good article. We thought article structure and few important templates that should be included in the article.

Edit-a-thon[edit]

The main event was conducted on 19 and 20 May 2018. There we helped to create articles. We divided the participants into groups. The groups worked on different women human rights defenders. The event was started around 10 am. The event went smoothly. Participants were very enthusiasts and it was easy because of pre-event sessions. Participants created articles in the English language. The list of articles created are, Tongam Rina, Jagmati Sangwan, Naga Mothers Association, Radhika Vemula, Bondita Acharya, Manjula Pradeep, Pavitri Manji, Manjula Pradeep, Meena Seshu, Bondita Acharya, Manorama Khatua, Sujatha Surepally.

  • Total number of articles created are 5
  • The total number of articles edited is 13.
  • Total number of participants 16
