Community Wishlist Survey 2023/Archive/Create an alias for the Template namespace
Create an alias for the Template namespace
- Problem: Typing "Template" in front of template names is tedious.
- Proposed solution: Create an alias, for example "T", just like "WP" is an alias for the Wikipedia namespace.
- Who would benefit: Everyone who displays templates regularly.

- See w:Wikipedia:Perennial proposals#Create shortcut namespace aliases for various namespaces. Nardog (talk) 09:49, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't see that. I suppose this proposal should be withdrawn, or is there a chance it could be reconsidered? —Bruce1eetalk 09:58, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Bruce1ee Adding namespace aliases is just a configuration change, so there's not really any engineering involved here anyway. I'm happy to archive this proposal for you, either as "withdrawn" or "requires community consensus." Is that alright with you?
Also worth noting that "WP" is not real namespace alias, but a pseudo-namespace. Each of those are merely redirects someone created. Likewise you can do the same with Templates. I.e. T:DYK. Also, as pointed out in the perennial proposals Nardog linked to, some shortcuts would conflict with articles, so it seems very unlikely the "T" shortcut would get implemented on English Wikipedia, specifically.
