Culture Connect Africa Project is a unique WikiProject developed by African & Proud (AP) that aims at crowdsourcing contributions enriching Wikipedia's content on African culture. Project Overview

Culture Connect Africa is an initiative encompassing three transformative projects: AfroCuisine, Wiki Festival, and African Cinema/Film Editathon. These projects collectively aim to amplify the rich tapestry of African cultures, filling content gaps on Wikimedia platforms and fostering a more inclusive representation of African heritage.

African & Proud (AP) core team have identified a gap in the rich African culture and has planned this culture connect Africa project to connect Africans together to promote the richness in the heritage and culture, in line with the representation of culture, starting with Nigeria, the project will also encompass the language Wikis; including Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa and other language Wiki Projects.

Subprojects and Timeline

  1. African Film & Cinema: February 2024 - March 2024: The project aims at bridging the content around African Film and Cinema, it aims at promoting and projecting Nigerian/African cinematic heritage, including notable films, actors, theatre, media or distribution company. The project not only focuses on English Wikipedia, but also aim at covering language Wikipedia projects including but not limited to Yoruba Wikipedia, Igbo Wikipedia and others. AfroCuisine X AfroFestival - October- November 2024: Bringing together the vibrant worlds of AfroCuisine and AfroFestival, Culture Connect Africa presents a dynamic fusion of culinary arts and cultural celebration.
