Wikimedia Language Diversity Hub: What it is and how you can get involved[edit]

Abstract/description[edit]

The Wikimedia Language Diversity Hub is currently working on a research project investigating what barriers and challenges that contributors to small language Wikipedia versions experience. Through interviews with communities, we hope to capture a rich impression on the current situation for contributors from all over the world. There is a lot of interesting work going on on small language versions of wiki projects in the ESEAP region. We want to take the chance to give updates, and gain feedback and needs from the communities in the EASAP region to what a Language Diversity Hub can do for you.

Relationship to ESEAP or to the theme[edit]

The ESEAP region is one of the most linguistically diverse regions in the world, and in past years we have seen plenty of new languages from the region get official Wikimedia projects for the first time – figuring out how best to facilitate this work and get even more language communities involved in Wikimedia is an important objective in reaching Wikimedia's strategic goals.
