• Summary of the session: The Ludwig Wittgenstein Project (LWP) aims to make Ludwig Wittgenstein’s works available online free of charge and with a free licence. Wittgenstein's works entered the public domain in countries with a copyright term of 70 years PMA in 2022. The LWP website is a repository of high-quality digital editions of Wittgenstein's published works in the original language and in translation. Its purpose is to remove the paywall that stands between the prospective reader and the texts, and to make the texts available to anyone who cannot access a library. We are joining EduWiki Week 2022 to advocate free access to knowledge and to share a story about a project at the crossroads between free culture and the digital humanities.

• Outcome of the session: We think that the LWP's case history can be interesting for Wikimedians, and in particular those who focus on making high-level educational resources freely available online. The LWP, as an independent project, shares the Wikimedia movement's vision and mission and works to make public domain texts available online; but at the same time it operates as a publisher, making new translations available under free licences. We believe this model is worth understanding and possibly replicating.
