It all started with the awareness of #1Lib1Ref which is an annual global Wikipedia activity involving librarians in improving articles with AfLIA championing the African Librarians' Week, there were massive online training programs for participation in the #1Lib1Ref. The Library Associations in different countries of Africa acknowledged it and set the balls rolling in their countries. Nigerian Librarians made things happen by giving it visibility and joining in the Wikipedia training programs. There were also physical training sessions which yielded great output in registering new Wikimedians, improvement of articles and creating new articles.

ナイジェリア南東部のアナンブラ州では特別研修を計画しケネット・ダイク博士記念州立中央電子図書館（アウカ）で実施しました。進行役は Dr. Ngozi Perpetua Osuchukwu と Dr. Nkem Osuigwe、参加した図書館員は24名でした。初回参加者10名のうち早期に登録した6名は研修中に（ウィキペディアの）初編集を済ませました。残りの5名はこの歴史に残る #1Lib1Ref で編集回数を増やしました。

参加者は（研修に）満足し、フォローアップとしてエディタソンに実効的に参加しました。ウィキペディア研修（Wikipedia Training）で得た教訓は専門職の皆さんはウィキペディアの活動に前向きで参加の下地は整っているという点でした。必要なのは学び、貢献する場です。学んだことを前向きに共有したいと望み、図書館利用者で興味を寄せた人をウィキペディアの考え方につないでいます。ナイジェリアチームと研修後のフォローアップをしたところ、研修受講者だった図書館員のなかから実際にチャンピオンを輩出し、ウィキペディアのいくつかのエディタソンで入賞した人も複数います。自発的に研修プログラムを行い、受講者を統合してウィキペディアへの貢献を始めるようにしてくれました。
