The Central Commission of the Institute for Improvement of Education awarded the second prize to Sanja Ječmenica for the project "Wikijunior books in class". The Institute is a body established by the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the purpose of monitoring, ensuring, and improving the quality and development of the education system. Once a year, the Institute organizes a competition called Learned at the seminar - applied in practice with the aim of developing and promoting the culture of sharing knowledge in educational institutions. The main requirement for participating in the competition is that the candidate participated in one of the Institute's accredited seminars, which Sanja did thanks to the seminar "Using Wiki Tools in Teaching and Learning" for which Wikimedia Serbia received accreditation.

"We were pleased that the employees of the educational institutions found the time and strength to share their acquired knowledge, skills, and experiences with us at the Institute and the rest of the educational public due to the already known aggravating circumstances for work," stated on the website of the Institute for Improvement of Education.

Wikijunior books in class is a project whose goal is to create a digital book for children on the Wikibooks website. The Wikijunior book created by students contains texts about 50 countries that are located on the territory of Europe or are considered part of Europe for socio-political reasons. This book is child-friendly and is illustrated with photographs and maps. The book presents factual information that can be verified, and the texts were created by the 6th-grade students of the Elementary School "Jovan Sterija Popović" from Belgrade.

As a reminder, at the competition of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications in 2018, entitled Digital lesson, Sanja won the third prize for the application of Wikipedia in teaching. The award is given to those professors who skillfully use modern information technologies in their teaching practice. In addition, Professor of Sociology, Zorana Matićević won second place in the contest "Learned at the seminar and applied in practice 2016" for the paper "Creating wiki articles in the field of sociology, what can I do?".
