The first-ever EduWiki Week brought Wikimedians and teachers from different projects and communities to share their work and stories with the Wikimedia movement. We celebrated EduWiki Week a virtual celebration of free knowledge in education from 21st to 25th February 2022. This event was a successor to Wikidata Education Week, where the Education team at the Wikimedia Foundation had interviewed 8 community members to highlight the work of our community, and how they use Wikidata in education.

EduWiki Week was co-organized by Florencia Guastavino (WMAR),Klara Sielicka-Baryłka (WMPL), Vjollca, Will (Wiki Ed), Krupal Kasyap, and the Education team. The event was designed in a hybrid manner to ensure inclusive participation. The event was structured with three participation opportunities, Asynchronous or community-led celebrations – we have seen 9 community activities were organized during the week; community showcase session, where 9 community members shared their work of using Wikimedia projects in education, these included offline editing, supporting small languages, gender gap initiatives; followed by live sessions that included interviewing allied organizations from the education sector, community members, and a workshop on evaluating education projects. You can find the recordings of the sessions on the event page.

We have learned a lot from this event, and we look forward to your participation in upcoming events.
