Training sessions with "Nexhmedin Nixha" Technical High School

In the first training session we introduced the students to Wikipedia, the principles & rules of writing encyclopedic articles and demonstrated how editing on Wikipedia is done. In the following week from the training session the students had to finish the task of editing at least 2 articles.

In the second training session we introduced Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons to the students, and demonstrated how to create an article in Wikidata and upload media to Wikimedia Commons. The task for the following week was creating at least 2 Wikidata articles and uploading 2 new files to Wikimedia Commons.

The students were energetic to learn about the Wiki projects and worked on so many articles that were of their interests. All the students that finished the tasks given each training session were given a certification of achievement from WoALUG.

Workshop with students of the Faculty of Philology – University of Prishtina "Hasan Prishtina"

WoALUG continued its partnership formed last year with the Faculty of Philology of the University of Prishtina. We held a workshop with the new students of professor Bregasi. The students were trained on writing and translating Wikipedia articles.

The students were given the opportunity by their professor to write/ translate an article from the language they are studying into Albanian (Shqip) on Wikipedia Shqip as part of their academic credits. The students were very open and enthusiastic about this proposal. We also have created a Facebook group with all the students where they can further discuss and address any other questions they might have.

The students have already started to work on the articles even though they have time to complete and upload the article. The deadline, given by the professor, has been set considering their course.
