The main theme of the project is to create awareness among librarians, lecturers, students of higher institutions in Kaduna state on importance of Wikimedia projects like Wikipedia and Wikidata. specifically, The campaign primarily objective is to recruit and train Nigerians in creating and improving content about northern – Nigerians on Wikipedia and Wikidata. Kailali Multiple Campus, affiliated with Far Western University and situated in the vibrant city of Dhangadi in western Nepal, has always been dedicated to fostering a rich learning environment for its students. On 14th July 2023, the campus witnessed a significant event where Bed CSIT students took the initiative to conduct a Wikimedia and education outreach program. The highlight of the month was Wiki Movimento Brasil's participation at the 32nd ANPUH National Symposium on History, in São Luís do Maranhão, Brazil. Between July 15th and 17th, WMB had a stand set up in the hall of the event and held a workshop for brazilian educators. Read more…

On June 17, 2023, the Wikiconference (webpage) took place after a three-year covid break, this time it was organised as a Community Wikiconference. Nearly 40 Wikipedians gathered in the representative premises of Didaktikon Hybernska (Charles University site). Earlier this year, we launched the Kiwix4School Africa Mentorship Program to train and mentor volunteers from across Africa in acquiring the essential skills to utilize Kiwix effectively. Over a two-month period, we enrolled 100 participants who were paired with mentors in groups of 10. Today, we are delighted to announce the graduation of 62 exceptional individuals from 20 countries who successfully met all the program requirements. Read more…

62 participants from 20 countries graduated from the Kiwix4Schools Africa Mentorship Program. The Kiwix4school Africa Mentorship Program is just one of the many initiatives undertaken by Open Foundation West Africa to promote open knowledge and equal access to education. The program was launched in March 2023 and students were enrolled for the program May through to June. Graduation ceremony was held in June to celebrate the brilliant achievement and perseverance of these participants. Read more…

The Handbook of Research on Implementing Inclusive Educational Models and Technologies for Equity and Diversity was published, in which there is a paper entitled "Promoting Equity in Access to Open Knowledge: An Example of the Wikipedia Educational Program" written by the Manager of the Education Program of Wikimedia Serbia Nebojša Ratković and the Manager of Diversity Projects of Wikimedia Serbia Nevena Rudinac. A one-day workshop was held at the Ajumako Campus of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on Saturday, July 1, 2023 to introduce students studying Kusaal language to Wikipedia and its sister projects. On April 27, 28 and 29, 2023 from the Wikimedia Mexico Education Program we carried out the Wikipedia event in Xalapa, which consisted of activities that accompanied the presentation of the WikiEducation book. July 24 was the official start date for the first installment of the “Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom” course in Ukraine developed by Wikimedia Ukraine. 300 Ukrainian educators will study for five weeks and complete a final assignment designing an integration of Wikipedia their lessons. Open Foundation West Africa in partnership with Geothe Institute hosted a 2-day workshop to train Librarians from various institutions to introduce them to the Wikimedia movement and built their capacity to contribute to Wikimedia projects. Read more…
