Boots from the 1870s to the 1920s.
We would like to welcome you all to the Europeana Fashion Challenge that will start on the 12 of November 2013 and last until the 12 of December 2013. Three fashion workshops will take place between the 12-14 November and will mark the beginning of the contest. All of the participants have one month to create fantastic articles on Wikipedia and not only help free knowledge but also have the chance to win the Fashion Book Bundle, sponsored by a number of supporting museums.
In this challenge you are invited to write about fashion and use the many fantastic picture of fashion that we have on Wikimedia Commons. Especially the ones that have been uploaded from our partners Europeana, Europeana Fashion, the Nordiska museet, the MoMu Fashion Museum Antwerp and Rossimoda Shoe Museum to Wikimedia Commons. These images originate from Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAMs) all over Europe and we want these images to be used in as many articles in as many language versions as possible (i.e. you can participate on any language version of Wikipedia that you prefer).
As we strive for the images to illustrate well written and comprehensive articles points will be given not just for the addition of the images to the articles, but also for the expansion of existing articles or the creation of new articles (this includes working on articles where the picture from Europeana has already been added). The points will be summarized and the winner will receive a number of beautiful and informative reference books about fashion and textiles.
