ABOUT

Recognizing the gender content gap on Wikipedia, OFWA launched the Shine Her Light Campaign which took place from 8th March, 2024 to 31st March, 2024. Through this initiative, women contributors were trained to document the lives and achievements of notable African women, empowering them to amplify their voices in the digital space. This campaign recorded significant milestones, including the creation of over 200 new articles and edits related to African women’s contributions to society.

The initiative since its launch has become a model initiative for gender-focused content creation in the Wikimedia movement.
