Grants:IEG/W.Punjabi Wikipedia Promotion Program
Project idea
[edit]What is the problem you're trying to solve?
[edit]Through this promotion program I want to help our long time editors who have no computers so they can edit regularly. Through T-Shirts and ball points I want to promote our projects.
What is your solution?
[edit]Our long time users: User:Saanvel, User:Jugni, User:کیسری, User:Danish47 are students but engaged with our projects for a long time but they dont have computers and it can be verified from their editing records, due to absence of computers they cant edit regularly. I therefore thought that through this program laptops should be provided to them so they could work regularly. On our wikipedia only I am the regular editor and I have been on these projects for the last 6 years; I wish other should share with me. I also want to prepare shirts With Wikipedia logos and would like to distribute them to interested ones or those who are studying Punjabi in colleges or schools. Ball points will be distributed mostly to school teachers, professors, newspaper editors, media persons or enthusiastic students or persons for the promotion of our project as the project name will be engraved on the ball points.
Project goals
[edit]The basic purpose is the promotion of our Wiki projects in Pakistan. It will strengthen our projects, promote and people will in the end know more about our projects.
Project plan
[edit]Activities
[edit]Awarding of laptops to long term editors who have no computers will bring regularity in their editing and their commitment to the projects will be cemented. I will contact to T-shirts and ball points manufacturers to provide us these things for the amount with Wikipedia logos and names on them. I will distribute these items personally, through post or through other means to those whom I think or useful for the promotion of our projects. The results are easy to verified.
Budget
[edit]Community engagement
[edit]For the distribution of T-Shirts I will search and contact the colleges where Punjabi is being taught, through their principal and professors I will distribute. Through social media I know who are enthusiastic about our language and I will send them through posts after inquiring their addresses. Ball-points will be given to students, teachers, editors and media persons (I live in Islamabad, the capitol of Pakistan and i can go to colleges and media houses to distribute the ball points.) I am a professor of English Literature in a government college and ball points will mostly go to teaching community.
Sustainability
[edit]The grant will certainly create a new awareness among the public as we would like to advertise it on social media too and it will certainly put Wikimedia projects in a better picture. Pakistan is among those countries where there is very less awareness about Wikimedia Projects and the grant will create awareness. And will it open new vistas of goodwill.
Measures of success
[edit]Need target-setting tips? Note: in addition to your project-specific measures of success, you will also be asked to report on some Global Metrics at the end of your final report. Please keep this in mind as you plan, and we'll support you as you begin your project. I think it will measured through many means. Comments, pictures and more readability of our projects. Last month our wikipedia first time touched one million clicks figure in a month, I hope the click rate should be bigger too.
