Grants:IdeaLab/Block citations from sources that are known to carry a very apparent bias.

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
Block citations from sources that are known to carry a very apparent bias.
the gist of my idea is quite simple, it sets out to outwardly blacklist sources that disagree with Wikipedia's content policies.

Project idea[edit]

What is the problem you're trying to solve?[edit]

As it has become apparent certain sources have no interest in spreading the "whole" truth when reporting on issues, and as such should not be allowed to operate on Wikipedia.

What is your solution?[edit]

A site-wide black-list database should be made and it should be filled with sources that aren't allowed to be cited on Wikipedia, effectively limiting and eventually making biased sources irrelevant.

Endorsements[edit]

  • Currently, websites such as Conservapedia could be used as sources. To preserve the neutrality of Wikipedia, websites that are unreliable sources should be blacklisted. Ethanlu121 (talk) 00:42, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
And what of the article on Conservapedia itself? See WP:BIASED and WP:SELFSOURCE. But WP:RS shouldn't trump WP:V anyway so I don't think this proposal is going to succeed as worded. -- OlEnglish (Talk) 02:48, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
