What is the problem you're trying to solve?

When you try to fill the table in colour, you have to fill in the special code that few people know, and you have to go to the source editing instead of visual . In Microsoft Word, you can easily do that.

What is your solution?

Create a program that allows you fill the closed territory on screen in colour
