Grants:IdeaLab/Inspire Grants – Gender gap campaign/FAQs

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Let's use this page to start making FAQs about this campaign...

I've got a non-gender gap related proposal that can't wait for review during these 3 months. What do I do?[edit]

We'll still handle urgent requests for funding during this time. If there is a valid reason that you cannot seek funding for your project/program/plan before February or after April, please contact Alex or Siko and we'll continue to work with the PEG and IEG committees to assist you.

If my proposal isn't gender-gap related, can I still draft it on-wiki during those 3 months?[edit]

You are still welcome to continue drafting all grant proposals during this period, so that they'll be ready for review in the next open cycle.

Why can't you still accept all proposals unrelated to the gender gap theme at the same time as this experiment?[edit]

We wish we could, but we've got limited staff and hours in the day. Proposal review, approvals, and grantee setup and support all take staff time and energy, and to ensure this experiment gets off the ground and we can measure success, we think we'll need these 3 months to focus.

Will there be a process for handling time-sensitive grant requests not related to the gender gap during this time?[edit]

Yes, by Feb 1 this process will be setup and made clear (it isn't secret, we just haven't worked out the details yet).

I'm on the GAC or IEG committee, and don't plan to participate in the joint committee looking at gender gap proposals during this campaign. What will I be doing?[edit]

Even if you're not interested in this theme, you'll still be very much needed to:

  • Mentor/advise current grantees
  • Help proposers develop new proposal drafts for May & beyond
  • Assess and escalate any urgent funding needs to committee and program officer attention
