What problem does this solve?[edit]

The Wikimedia Foundation has brochures, training guides and other materials that program leaders can distribute at events. This learning pattern will help you determine which materials you need and how you can obtain them in time for your event.

What is the solution?[edit]

The Education Team at WMF can send English language brochures to program leaders who are teaching people to edit in education programs. Be sure to send your request at least one week (but preferably longer) before your event.

Send an email to education@wikimedia.org with the following information:

  • How many of which brochures you need.
  • What date you need them by.
  • Shipping name, address and contact phone number of person requesting brochures.

Things to consider[edit]

  • Some program leaders have found that having printed materials in their local language can be an asset, but is not necessary. Printed materials can be useful for conducting outreach, but once you are working with students in a classroom, PDFs or instructions on course pages may be sufficient.
  • Consider asking the school that you are working with to print training materials to be distributed in class. Many educators and schools have a budget available for printing.
  • If you need a large number of brochures for multiple outreach engagements, consider requesting funding through the PEG program to print brochures locally, since international shipping fees are high.
  • Request brochures with as much advance notice as possible.
