Australia

Wikimedia Australia's Volunteer Support Programme exists to support Australian efforts to improve WMF projects and develop the wiki community in Australia.

Germany

Wikimedia Deutschland offers a diverse program of different grants, for an overview see the grant category in the German Wikipedia (in German).

  • Travel reimbursement program (quite similar to WMF's Travel policy)
  • Library and literature grants (WMDE offers grants to volunteers who need special and/or expensive literature for their Wikimedia-related voluntary work. Furthermore, WMDE offers to pay library registration and lending fees)
  • Small grants for the community (up to 5000 Euro; so-called Community-Budget), for almost any Wikimedia-related activity or event
  • Big grants for the community (over 5000 Euro; so-called Community-Projekt-Budget). Decisions on requests are take twice a year by a special commitee consisting of several chapter and community selected members.

Sweden

During 2012, Wikimedia Sverige was providing travel grants to support participation in events like the developers meeting in Berlin, the Wikimania in Haifa, FSCONS in Gothenborg or the GLAM camp in Amsterdam. Requests should be made directly to info(a)wikimedia.se.

United Kingdom

Wikimedia UK offers microgrants (up to £250) and standard grants (over £250); see Wikimedia UK's website.

United States – District of Columbia

Wikimedia DC provides small grants to individuals, community groups, and nonprofit organizations to fund activities that align with our mission to advance general knowledge and collect, develop, and disseminate educational content under a free license or in the public domain. Activities for which grants are available can include anything from a library workshop or photo expedition to a small conference. Learn more
