Part 1 Understanding your work[edit]

1. Briefly describe how your proposed activities and strategies were implemented

Well, we begin with the promotional campaigns in the two targeted tertiary institutions; the Federal College of Education (Technical) Potiskum and the College of Administration, Management and Technology reaching out to Fulfulde student unions and cultural groups. Before these campaigns, we had the designed Editathon training flyers printed and have them distributed during the promotional campaigns. We also left some copies to leaders of the unions to give them to the rest of their members who were absent by the time. Consequently, the flyers contain a link of the designed Jotform, an online form were were the reached populace expressed their interests for participation and from which we selected the required number of individuals as stated in the project proposal to take part in the Fulfulde Wikipedia training/editathon. The workshop training took place at the CAMTECH's newly renovated ICT Lab were we had a full day single phase training due to enough, well equipped facilities that guarantee the smooth running of the project.

2. Were there any strategies or approaches that you felt were effective in achieving your goals? Please describe these strategies and approaches.

Yes, developing the online form/means of collecting the participants' information before hand as a preselection strategy had really an effective impact on this project because it helped in not only our decision making during the selection process to figure out the most determine and responsible individuals with stronger interests and willingness to begin the journey of contributing to Fulfulde Wikipedia but also in tracing and tracking records of some vital information about each and every individual participant like learning about their background (where they come from and live), contact details (email addresses and WhatsApp numbers) which make subsequent communications and reminders about the event much more easier and also speed up our work in adding them to the community's group.

Our efforts during the Fund period have helped to...
A. Bring in participants from underrepresented groups Strongly agree
B. Create a more inclusive and connected culture in our community Strongly agree
C. Develop content about underrepresented topics/groups Strongly agree
D. Develop content from underrepresented perspectives Strongly agree
E. Encourage the retention of editors Strongly agree
F. Encourage the retention of organizers Strongly agree

5. Is there anything else you would like to share about how your efforts helped to bring in participants and/or build out content, particularly for underrepresented groups?

This project was so far the first of its kind since the existence of the Fulfulde Wikipedia, therefore its positive impact in contributing to both bringing in more Fulfulde Wikipedia contributors being and underrepresented community and in building out contents in Fulfulde language which is also one the underrepresented languages on the Wikipedia cannot be overemphasized.

Part 2: Your main learning[edit]

6. In your application, you outlined your learning priorities. What did you learn about these areas during this period?

Part of what I was hoping to learn from this project as outlined in the project's proposal was to see that whether the recruited participants will be able to improved at least 100 articles which of course helped me to discover that by recruiting responsible individuals such target can be out numbered since we've been able to improved over 300 articles. Also, I came to realize that the increase in the visibility of the Fulfulde Wikipedia (page views) depend highly on the promotional and awareness campaigns we made since we have seen the effect so far on how we get increase in the number of Fulfulde Wikipedia page views during the project.

7. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences?

Yes, we were both happy and really surprised to see that the management of the institution we conducted the training provide us with extra free 30mins to finished the remaining part of the training when the specified renting hours exhausted. This made us believe that the management are in full support of our activities and we will not hesitate to have a proposed partnership with them in the future events.

8. How do you hope to use this learning? For instance, do you have any new priorities, ideas for activities, or goals for the future?

Well, new ideas always crossed one's mind and that depends on the nature of the place, kind of project involved, location and even the period among others a certain project is intended to be held. So, I can yes, there might be new ideas but they are dependent to the situation.

9. Documentation of resources: Use this space to upload any documents that would be useful to share with others (e.g. communications material, training material, presentations).
