Part 2: Learning[edit]

4. In your application, you outlined some learning questions. What did you learn from these learning questions when you implemented your project? How do you hope to use this learnings in the future? You can recall these learning questions below. (required)

You can recall these learning questions below: The approach we are proposing is certainly new to the Quechua Community, yet it takes advantage of the Wikimedia ecosystems and its tools. We have designed an approach that first, collects all quechua vocabularies on a Wikibase instance, then we select a specific quechua variant (e.g., Quechua Puneño), afterwards, we create lists of words to be recorder by quechua native speakers. Finally, the recordings are loaded ad presented on Wikimedia Commons. Some learning points are:

  • How this approach can be used for recording other quechua language variants
  • How this approach can help low-resource languages to overcome their lack of resources
  • How a community of quechua speaker can be empowered with tools so they can continue contributing to the Wikimedia ecosystem
  • How the recording can be used for creating Open Educational Resources

5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)
