Part 1 Understanding your work[edit]

1. Briefly describe how your proposed activities and strategies were implemented

Our primary plan of action for this project was capacity building. As stated in the proposal, due to a lack of space, we held four offline training seminars off-campus. Participants received training on how to improve articles, add categories, references, and infoboxes on Wikipedia. They also learned how to create items, link articles to Wikipedia pages, and add references. Together, we were able to bring together more than 120 participants and reduce the gender content gap.

2. Were there any strategies or approaches that you felt were effective in achieving your goals? Please describe these strategies and approaches.

One-on-one mentoring: The LUCG team did a great job of establishing positive rapport with the participants so they felt comfortable asking questions, seeking advice, and also being guided as they continued editing after the events.

Curation: To help participants transition smoothly into the editing stage without running out of ideas for what to write about, we put up a collection of articles on the subject of impact. It sparked their enthusiasm and made them realize how crucial it is to close the gender gap in content.

3. Please use this space to upload media and other files that help tell your story and impact.

A. Bring in participants from underrepresented groups Strongly agree
B. Create a more inclusive and connected culture in our community Not applicable to your fund
C. Develop content about underrepresented topics/groups Strongly agree
D. Develop content from underrepresented perspectives Strongly agree
E. Encourage the retention of editors Strongly agree
F. Encourage the retention of organizers Strongly agree

5. Is there anything else you would like to share about how your efforts helped to bring in participants and/or build out content, particularly for underrepresented groups?

No

Part 2: Your main learning[edit]

6. In your application, you outlined your learning priorities. What did you learn about these areas during this period?

1. The participants now have a fair idea about the movement and its mission through our presentations and experienced shared with them by the facilitators.

2. We believe that the spirit of contest played a very big factor in this regard.
3. Some participants continued editing to improve their skills and also participated in contests organized by other wiki groups in the country.

7. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences?

No

8. How do you hope to use this learning? For instance, do you have any new priorities, ideas for activities, or goals for the future?

Yes. Concerns regarding the ongoing nature of these gatherings were raised by certain participants. In time to retain these participants and help them improve their skills and track their development, we want to continue organizing them in the future.

9. Documentation of resources: Use this space to upload any documents that would be useful to share with others (e.g. communications material, training material, presentations).
