Application type: Standard application
Part 1: Project and impact
1. Describe the implemented activities and results achieved. Additionally, share which approaches were most effective in supporting you to achieve the results. (required)
Two workshops on writing articles for Wikipedia were held, the first one at University of Split, Department of Art History (prof. Silva Kalčić) on 4th of April and the second one in Zagreb, Museum of Contemporary Art, on 14th of September. Ivana Završki was the organizer / manager, Sanja Bachrach Krištovfić, Mia Lovrec and Marko Kovačić were facilitators (online and offline). Zblace and Imbehind helped as volunteers. Both the workshops were connected with the project aimed for visibility of woman artists in Croatia, The Visible Ones, and the resource materials are connected with the upcoming project catalogues. Furthermore, a workshop for media strategy aimed for vulnerable groups aimed for MSU employees was held.
The aim of the whole traveling project was to enhance the visibility of woman artists in museum collections and to encourage the purchase for the museum collections from living female artists. Working on Wikipedia articles in university and museum context created a community - including high school and university students, amateurs and professionals, dedicated to the promotion of feminist values in art and beyond.

Part 2: Learning
4. In your application, you outlined some learning questions. What did you learn from these learning questions when you implemented your project? How do you hope to use this learnings in the future? You can recall these learning questions below. (required)
You can recall these learning questions below: How to use Wikimedia resources in promoting visibility of female artists and their work in public. It will be done as a case study based on female artists in the collection of contemporary art museums, and in a series of ongoing exhibitions. The participants will be invited to contribute with texts and images. 2 workshops and trainings will be aimed to enhance the wiki contributors in contemporary art, while the campaign will be targeted towards artists for the public accessibility of their work on Wikimedia commons.
The case study on presentation and representation of the artists was done via 2 workshops, followed by many discussions. It resulted easier to contribute with texts in native language, i.e. in Croatian. Attention was given to the media strategies on representing vulnerable groups. The negotiation on public accessibility of the artworks often means direct involvement of the artists, family or museums (not always rights holders), direct and ongoing negotiation. More strategies for empowerment of underprivileged communities on Internet are urgently needed locally.
5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)
The biggest change was that one of the exhibition venues was closed (Osijek museum) during the project - we had to adapt the plans and itineraries. Specific groups showed more interest in contributing to Wikipedia. More target focused campaigns and direct involvement of the artists would have made the whole process much easier.
6. What is your plan to share your project learnings and results with other community members? If you have already done it, describe how. (required)
An overview on how the community and the public institution can work together and help each other. Discussion on how to recognize structural violence and gender violence hidden in different structures.
