Part 1 Understanding your work[edit]

1. Briefly describe how your proposed activities and strategies were implemented

Things were crazy in this WLE, very short time between the grant approval and the start. That delay a little bit the starting of the massive campaign of the foto.wiiki.br for this WLE. The inertia to start, and the short notice (which also resulted in fewer volunteers), had some impact, but we could suppress the last year.

2. Were there any strategies or approaches that you felt were effective in achieving your goals? Please describe these strategies and approaches.

The social media campaign worked as predicted. When the WLE had only CentralNotice as a way to attract new photographers, the results were poor. We can see two reasons:

1. Social media is very strong in Brazil, Wikipedia and other wikis lost a significant part of their importance in the country, even when we are talking about education.
2. The copywriting of centralnotice was not made by professionals. The one made by professionals was refused by one sysop, this is terrible. One person has this kind of power, and the banner was not well written, being almost useless.

We can see that some days after a good reach the images grow a little, when the campaign really started on the 5 of August, the day that our video campaign was released, the number of contributions sharply increased.

5. Is there anything else you would like to share about how your efforts helped to bring in participants and/or build out content, particularly for underrepresented groups?

We will pass a strong change in the Brazilian politic, and we can use this first to breathe, and second as a catalyst to our actions in this regard, as the new government has a focus on underrepresented groups.

Part 2: Your main learning[edit]

6. In your application, you outlined your learning priorities. What did you learn about these areas during this period?

The CentralNotice has little or no impact to WLE campaign, if not properly copy is insert. Either way, social media has a bigger and stronger influence in the final result.

We also had to change the content planned to be produced to social media, as the platform change to prioritize videos, for that reason, we had decrease the quality of the main video, and edit around 40 pretty small videos to be shared trough social media.

7. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities?This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences?

The negative from sysop of CentralNotice was unexpected, and well, no one was waiting a war to occur in Ukraine.

The change to video from Instagram was expected, but we still needed to predict how significant the impact would be. We can see by the graphics that, in the beginning, the posts made with photos had a plodding start. Only after the videos could we overcome the barriers and delivery the expected reach.

8. How do you hope to use this learning? For instance, do you have any new priorities, ideas for activities, or goals for the future?

Yes, we should focus more in Social Media, spread throughout or vias.
