Five sessions took place.

2 Virtual training courses (Google Meet, WhatsApp) about:

  • presenting Wiki Loves Africa, its objectives and its vision to participants
  • presenting to participants good uploading practices on Wikimedia Commons and types of copyright accepted on Wikimedia Commons
  • training participants on the choice of camera, the choice of optics (for those who have the possibility)
  • training participants who use a mobile phone on: the right settings, the correct configuration and the applications that provide a cinematic rendering

The goal of the virtual trainings was to help participants put all the chances on their side in terms of image quality, sound quality and a better understanding of the theme

2 physical training workshops

3 physical meeting in the field with the participants to see how they implement the advice we have given them

4 days of shooting with the participants during the filming of their videos

1 final physical training workshop (to help participants improve their skills in videography and photography)

2 training workshop on how to properly edit their videos and best practices in video editing and help with editing participants videos

2 physical meetings for images uploading session

The images uploaded represented the theme "Africa Creates" linked to the environment of Ivory Coast. We achieved:

  • uploading images of high visual and sound quality and highly related to theme « Africa Creates »
  • training participants so that they acquire technical skills in quality videography and photography and in video editing and uploading their files to Wikimedia Commons
  • and also training them in good uploading practices on Wikimedia Commons

We uploaded a total of 23 videos, 174 photos, 2 audios.

We keep learning and implementing strategies on how to build, grow, and maintain a community of creative participants who know how to contribute to the creation of quality media files that can be used on Wikimedia projects.

And we continue to further promote the contest among young aspiring filmmakers and photographers to raise awareness about the Wiki Loves Africa project and why videography is important on Wikipedia.

And this time around we subscribed to a powerful internet solution. This allowed us to avoid internet connection problems.

We used a generator in anticipation of power outages. so everything went well.

The event was an exciting and enriching experience. It was challenging. But it was also beneficial, warm, friendly and full of exchange of ideas.

We, and the participants were very enthusiastic and very involved in the project.
