From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
Movement Strategy Implementation Grant Report
Accepted

Please review the notes below before submitting your report.

Your draft implementation plan document should address the following questions clearly:

  • What movement strategy initiative or goal are you addressing?

Initiatives 3 and 38. Also, support communications or translation needs for a Wikimedia movement activity, meeting, or program.

  • What activities will you be doing to address that initiative?

The translation and creation of materials from the Movement Strategy to increase the accessibility and inclusion of the Lusophone community. This proposal includes 4 works: the creation of 2 didactic materials in slide format (one in English and one in Portuguese) aimed at presentations and workshops. The translation of the MS Playbook into Portuguese and the translation of a series of MS pages on Meta Wiki linked in the Playbook.

  • What do you expect will happen as a result of your activities? How do those outcomes address the movement strategy initiative?

As a result I hope that the Lusophone community will be better supported through these materials when they want to promote activities that need more clarification about the Movement's Strategy. And in the long run, that the community will create a greater awareness of the MST and feel more inserted in its initiatives and in the discussions around it through a deeper knowledge. Also, that other communities can take advantage of the same material in its English version, as a quick and more user-friendly way to access the Playbook content, which I believe has a lot of value for emerging communities.

  • How will you measure or evaluate your activities? What tools or methods will you use to evaluate your activities?

This grant is not about activities, but about creating a material and we can evaluate its success only after the community starts using the material. To create a draft implementation plan, we recommend the use of a logic model, which will help you and your team think about goals, activities, outcomes, and other factors in an organized way. Please refer the following resources to develop a logic model:

Outcomes[edit]

Please respond to the following questions below:

Where have you published your draft plan? Share the link to it here:

  • The result of this grant, the educational materials about MS, were uploaded on WikiCommons.

Here is the translated version of the Movement Strategy Playbook https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Cartilha_da_Estrat%C3%A9gia_do_Movimento.pdf

Here is the portuguese version of the presentation that summarizes the playbook material, with additional context about the Movement Strategy, to be used in a community presentation: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Slides_Cartilha_da_Estrat%C3%A9gia_do_Movimento.pdf

And finally, the English version of the same presentation material: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Slides_Movement_Strategy_Playbook.pdf

The on Meta pages about strategy that were also translated are linked inside the Playbook content.

What Movement Strategy initiative is this draft plan supporting?

  • Supports initiative number 3: Creating Movement Awareness and initiative number 38. Initiative for underrepresented communities because the lack of translated material is still a barrier for many communities, such as the Portuguese-speaking one.

This project can become an example for others who want to create/translate communication/education material.

What activities have you completed to produce this draft plan?

  • The translation of the MS Playbook, and from it, the planning and elaboration of a visual material, in a presentation format with summarized and adapted content, aiming at an accessible communication with people of different levels of knowledge within the Movement. and finally, the translation into English of the same content and the creation of an identical presentation in English to support the global community.

In which community channels have you announced your draft plan?

Also, now that is completely done I will announce on the esplanade and off-wiki community channels that this material is available.

It will also be made available directly to people who work with leadership development in the Portuguese-speaking community, such as colleagues from the Brazilian Calibra project and my colleagues from the workgroup of which I am a member, the Workgroup for Leadership Development.
