Our goal was to have at least 3 Editathons to enhance wikipedia on women and traditional culture in northern Kyoto Prefecture (City of Kyotango). Kyotango is located in a remote area, and has a small population. Nicknamed as "back Japan" and and public transportation runs only scarcely. Since the transportation and accommodation costs of the instructor who can support editing are the highest burden, we planned to arrange each Editathons as camps for two days as often as possible, so that the maximum effect can be obtained with the minimum cost . As a result, 4 Editathons of Wikipedia, one subproject, and 1 mapping party of OpenStreetMap were held. Details will be reported for each.

私達の目標は、少なくとも3回、京都府北部（京丹後市）の女性と伝統文化に関するwikipediaの充実を図るエディタソンを実施することでした。 京丹後市は「裏日本」ともよばれる人口の少ない地域で、公共交通も十分ではありません。Wikipedia等の編集をサポートできる講師の交通費と宿泊費用が一番の負担のため、企画開催をできるかぎり2日間の合宿とすることで、最小限の費用で最大の効果を得られるよう計画しました。 結果として、4回のWikipedia編集会と1回のサブプロジェクト、1回のオープンストリートマップ編集会を実施できました。それぞれについて、詳細を報告します。

One of them was introduced as high quality content in the “new article” of the Wikipedia Japanese main page. 5人の初心者を2人のウィキペディアンがサポートし、5つの項目を新規に作成しました。そのうちの1項目が質の高いコンテンツとして、ウィキペディア日本語版メインページの“新しい記事”で紹介されました。 The content was subsequently edited by participants and was enhanced by December. QR codes that directly link to the contents are pasted at the sights and information centers in the target area, making it easier for travelers to read the contents. その後、作成されたコンテンツはイベント参加者らによって引き続き編集され、12月までに充実しました。対象地域の名所や案内所には、コンテンツに直接リンクするQRコードが貼り付けられ、旅行者は手軽にそのコンテンツを読むことができるようになりました。	The purpose of this project was twofold. One is to enhance the contents of "Kami Tsuneyoshi town" which is almost unknown on Wikipedia. The other was to foster the willingness of even one beginner to continue editing Wikipedia. Until now, "edit Tango" was a project where multiple people shared a single content section and edited Wikipedia. This method was able to create a certain amount of content in a short time, but few participants continued to edit after the project, and did not lead to the growth of the content. We thought that even beginners could foster Wikipedians who produce good content by having the experience of creating one piece of content alone. This project #1 was an opportunity to verify whether even a novice alone could create high-quality content at the time of the main project scheduled for February 2020. As a result, we achieved two results. First, all participants expressed their willingness to edit Wikipedia in the future. One is that some people are happy to edit the content by themselves, while others are happy to edit the content while consulting with multiple people. In February 2020, the main project, “Wikigap by edit Tango歴史に埋もれた丹後の女性たち” , I was given the opportunity to consider creating a more flexible support system that matches the nature of the participants. この企画の目的は２つありました。1つは、Wikipediaでほとんど知られていない「上常吉地区」についてのコンテンツを充実させること。もう1つは、初心者が1人でもWikipediaの編集を継続する意欲を育てることでした。 これまでの“edit Tango”の企画では、複数人で1つのコンテンツの節を分担して、Wikipediaを編集していました。このやり方は、短時間である程度のコンテンツを作成することはできましたが、企画の後も編集を続ける参加者は少なく、コンテンツの成長には繋がりませんでした。私たちは、初心者であっても、1人で1つのコンテンツ全体を作成する体験を積むことで、良いコンテンツを生み出すウィキペディアンを養成することができると考えました。 この#1の企画は、2020年2月に予定しているメイン企画の時に、初心者でも1人で質の良いコンテンツの作成が可能かどうかを検証する機会でした。この結果、私たちは2つの成果を得ました。1つは、参加した全員が、今後もWikipedia編集に関わる意思を表明したこと。1つは、1人でコンテンツを編集することに喜びを覚える人と、複数人で相談しながらコンテンツを編集することに喜びを覚える人がいたことです。2020年2月のメイン企画の“Wikigap by edit Tango”では、参加者の性質に合わせ、より柔軟なサポート体制を整えることを検討するきっかけになりました。
(Subproject) Yosano Wikipedia Project ちりめん街道#3	3Wikipedian participated. Three new articles have been created.　All ３articles were selected as "new articles" and featured on the main Wikipedia page. 3人の編集者が参加し、3つの項目が新規に作成され、3項目すべてが質の高いコンテンツとして、ウィキペディア日本語版メインページの“新しい記事”で紹介されました。	The"Yosano Wikipedia Project ちりめん街道#3" is a project created by new editors who have participated in the "edit Tango" project in the past. We also provided a Wikipedian stay extension and Wi-Fi to create great content in this new friend's project. Wikipedia Town was not well known in the host area, and the number of participants was small. However, by repeatedly creating good content, I think that more participants will be gained in the future. “Yosano Wikipedia Project”は、過去に“edit Tango”のプロジェクトに参加した新規編集者が新たに立ち上げたプロジェクトです。私達はこのプロジェクトにも優れたコンテンツを作成できるウィキペディア編集者とWi-fiを提供するため、日程を調整し、遠方から参加した参加者の滞在費用を支援しました。 開催地域でのウィキペディアタウンの知名度はまだ低く、参加者は少数でしたが、良いコンテンツの作成を繰り返すことで、今後、多くの参加者を獲得できるものと思います。
(Main project # 2) Wikipedia training by school librarian of Kyoto Prefectural High Schools	5 local school librarians tried to create one new piece of content respectively (5 in total), four of them were published. 地元の高等学校図書館の学校図書館司書5名が、それぞれ１つずつ（合計5つ）の新規コンテンツの作成に挑戦し、そのうち4つのコンテンツが公開されました。	The librarian of each high school library in the Tango region was working on “1Lib1Ref”. In 2019, we added source information to Wikipedia content as staff training. In this project # 4, we learned how to create new content one by one, so that five people could support high school students on Wikipedia in the future. Unfortunately, one of them was not able to publish the content, but going to Wikipedia Town（Editathons） in the future showed a willingness to train.All five have also participated in the Wikipedia Editathons held in the area and have experienced some minor editing. 丹後地方の各高等学校図書館の司書たちは、2019年の職員研修としてWikipediaのコンテンツに出典情報を追加する“1Lib1Ref"に取り組んできました。5人全員が、"edit Tango"がこれまでに開催したエディタソンにも参加し、小さな加筆編集は経験しています。5人は、将来的に生徒達がWikipediaに参加したいと考えたとき、そのサポートができるようになるため、1人1コンテンツの作成に挑戦しました。 残念ながら、このうちの1人は自分の作成したコンテンツを公開するところまで至りませんでしたが、今後のウィキペディアタウンにも参加していくなかで、研修を重ねる意思を表明しています。
(Main project # 3) Wikigap by edit Tango 歴史に埋もれた丹後の女性たち	19 editors and about 10 visitors participated. Of these, six were Wikipedians used to editing Wikipedia. Nine new contents have been created and six contents have been added. Of the 15 content that was edited, four were subsequently introduced on the main Wikipedia page as high-quality content. People from all over the country holding events to disseminate local information on Wikipedia participated. People from Shizuoka, Niigata, Aichi and Fukui prefectures.Therefore, it was an opportunity to exchange information on initiatives in each region. 19名の編集者と約10名の見学者が参加しました。このうち、ウィキペディア編集に慣れたウィキペディアンは6名いました。9つの新規記事作成と、6つの既存記事への加筆が行われました。編集された15記事のうち、4記事（新規3、強化1）が高品質のコンテンツとしてウィキペディア日本語版のメインページに紹介されました。 静岡県、新潟県、愛知県、福井県など日本全国から、"edit Tango"と同じようにウィキペディアで地域情報を発信するエディタソンに取り組んでいる人々が参加し、情報交流が行われました。	This is the main purpose of this project. There were notable women in the Tango region during their long history since BC, but almost all were not mentioned on Wikipedia. We have described women from thousands of years of history and their impact on Wikipedia from various perspectives. At the same time, we sought to nurture editors who will continue to work on enhancing the articles of the Tango region, which cannot be realized by this one project alone. For this purpose, we needed the support of many experienced Wikipedia editors and experienced people who could demonstrate the benefits of including local information on Wikipedia. We helped travel and accommodation costs so that Wikipedians and other people holding similar events across the country could participate in this project. The project was a success, with many newbies experiencing Wikipedia editing at their own pace and many articles enriched.Among the participants on this day, 10 people also participated the next day. Most of them promised to participate or cooperate in the next project, even though 17 people could only participate in one day. この企画#3は、今回のプロジェクトの主目的である企画です。丹後地方には紀元前からの長い歴史の各時代に、特筆すべき女性がいましたが、そのほとんどすべてがWikipediaには記載されていませんでした。私たちは、数千年に及ぶ歴史の中の女性達とその影響をWikipediaに記載するとともに、この1回のエディタソンだけでは実現できない丹後地方の記事の充実に、引き続き取り組んでくれるウィキペディア編集者の育成を目指しました。 この目的のためには、多くのウィキペディア編集経験者のサポートと、地域の情報をWikipediaに記載していくメリットを証明できる経験者が必要でした。そこで、全国各地のウィキペディアンや、同様のイベントを開催している人々が、このプロジェクトに参加しやすいよう、交通費や宿泊費用を支援し、1泊2日間のエディタソンと情報交流の時間を整えました。 このプロジェクトは成功し、初心者の参加者も多くが自分のペースでウィキペディア編集を体験し、多くの記事が充実しました。プロジェクト＃3~5の2日間とも参加した参加者は10人でした。どちらか1日しか参加できなかった17人も、ほとんどの人々が、次回プロジェクトへの参加や協力を約束してくれました。
(Main project # 4) Wikigap by edit Tango 歴史に埋もれた丹後の女性たち after	3 people participated.Editing was done to further enhance the 15 contents edited in the previous day's project # 3. 前日の「Wikigap by edit Tango 歴史に埋もれた丹後の女性たち 」で編集した15コンテンツをさらに充実させるための編集を行いました。3人が参加しました。	Mainly, we enhanced the articles of people newly created at the previous day's event, and edited to supplement the missing source information. In the future, we will work to further enhance the content with a small-scale editorial meeting once a month. The first small editathon after Project # 4 was held on March 29, 2020 at the Hikari Museum in Hamazume, Amino-cho, Kyotango. おもに、前日のイベントで新規作成した人物記事の充実と、不足していた出典情報を補う編集を行いました。今後、毎月１回の小規模編集会でさらなるコンテンツの充実を図っていきます。 このプロジェクト#4後の最初の小規模な編集会は、2020年3月29日に京丹後市網野町浜詰のヒカリ美術館で行われました。
(Main project # 5) Mapping party in Amino	We learned how to create a map that supplements the textual description of Wikipedia content, and edited the map of Amino-cho, Kyotango City with 11 people. Wikipediaの記事のなかで、文章による解説を補填する地図の作成について学び、京丹後市網野町の地図を11人で編集しました。	Encyclopedias need photos and maps to supplement textual descriptions. We have created an ”Open Street Map” that can be used on Wikipedia so that we can create higher quality content.Before this project, almost no buildings were drawn on the map of OSM in Amino-cho, Kyotango-shi. After this project, many buildings were drawn around the Asamogawa area in Amino town, making it easier to visually understand the real image of the area. We will learn to edit and use various tools such as Wipipedia, OSM, and Wikimedia Commons in future projects, and aim to create better content. 百科事典には、文章による解説を補う、写真や地図が必要です。私たちは、より質の高いコンテンツを作成できるようになるため、Wikipediaで使用できるオープンストリートマップを作成しました。この企画の前まで、京丹後市網野町のOSMの地図には、建物がほとんど描かれていませんでした。この企画の後、網野町浅茂川地区を中心に多くの建物が描きこまれ、地域の実像が視覚的にわかりやすくなりました。 私たちは、今後の企画においても、Wipipedia、OSM、Wikimedia Commonsなど様々なツールの編集と活用を学び、より良いコンテンツの作成を目指します。

• What worked well?

“edit Tango” has had its first event in September 2018, and has had several events before this series of projects. As we gained more experience and collaborators from event management over the past year, our contact with our partners, event preparation and management went smoothly.

“edit Tango”は2018年9月に最初のイベントを開催し、以来、今回の一連のプロジェクトまでに複数回のイベントを行ってきました。 これまでの1年間にイベント管理の経験と協力者が増えたため、パートナーとの連絡やイベントの準備、管理がスムーズに進みました。

• What did not work so well?

It was disappointing that there were few students and young generation participants. You need to approach the younger generation who will be more familiar with the Internet.

学生や若い世代の参加者が少なかったことが残念でした。インターネットにより親しんでいるだろう若い世代へのアプローチをする必要があります。

• What would you do differently next time?

Strengthen the transmission of event information using SNS. In addition, through this series of projects, participants who have learned the usefulness of Wikipedia will be encouraged to join new participants. We will continue to provide local people with the opportunity to gradually learn about various Wikimedia and develop skills to create excellent content.

SNSを使ってイベント開催情報の発信を強化します。また、今回の一連のプロジェクトを通して、Wikipediaの有用性を学んだ参加者から、新たな参加者の参加を促します。 私達は今後も、段階的に、様々なウィキメディアについて学び、優れたコンテンツを作成するためのスキルアップの機会を地域の人々に提供します。
