This report for a Rapid Grant approved in FY 2021-22 has been reviewed and accepted by the Wikimedia Foundation.


Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went? We are generally happy with how overall the project went and the project went well.

Target outcome Achieved outcome Explanation
Number of participants: 40 We got 23 uploaders The participation was generally medium and were able to achieve up to 57% participation rate.
Number of photos uploaded to Wikimedia Commons: Up to 247 images were collected. The uploaders were able to get 247 images onto Wiki Commons which was about 62% success rate.

--> The participants were able to get together and plan how to work in teams.

--> Some participants did not continue in the middle of the process.

--> We will work on empowering as many advanced skilled editors who can also take lead to direct newbies.

Food & beverages 45 $10 $450 This was used to cover the costs for food and beverages on the full day training. 44 participants and 5 other organizing team including the photographer trainer(s).
COVID-Test 49 $9 $343 This is a requirement for people to gather in training. There was an addition of two extra people to the originally planned.
Branded T-shirts 45 $8 $360 This will cover for WLA branded T-Shirts. 40 participants and 5 organizing team.
Pull up banner 1 $70 $70 It will cover the cost for the banner for communication.
Internet data 40 $20 $800 Used to cover the internet cost for participants.
Photo hunt transportation 30 $15 $450 This was used to cover the costs for transportation for WLA participants to be able to reach out to places where they will take photos.
Camera hire 10 $30 $300 This covered the cameras hiring costs.
Participants certificates 35 $3 $105 This covered the cost for designing and printing the appreciation certificates.
Winners Prizes 1 $330 $330 1st Prize ($150), 2nd Prize ($100) & 3rd Prize ($80) - All will be provided in voucher cards & awards
Judges gifts 1 $120 $120 The judges will receive voucher cards for the appreciation.
Closing ceremony internet data 33 $5 $165 Thus covered the internet cost for every participant.
Contingency amount 1 $60 $60 This was meant to be used to fix any change in the exchange rate or any additional cost that may come up along the implementation.

Remaining funds[edit]

Do you have any remaining grant funds?

The funds remaining from this grant in the amount of US$157 were deducted from another grant payment for Wikimania_2022/Scholarships/Wikimedia_Community_User_Group_Rwanda.

Yes, there was a balance of 157 USD that remained and the plan is to use it in the upcoming projects.
