Goals
[edit]Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
Yes,
- We met our target by translating and proofreading 500+ messages , including Core MediaWiki, Mobile Frontend, Discussion Tools, Visual Editor, and ContentTranslation from English to Fante on translatewiki.net.
- We have continued to update/add new translations as and when required or necessary.
- We actively translated the Core MediaWiki, Mobile Frontend, Discussion Tools, Visual Editor, and ContentTranslation from English to Fante on translatewiki.net.
- It was so interesting seeing the interface of the various Wikipedia sister projects being switched from English to Fante language.
- The community hosted persons from different geographical locations in the Western and Central Regions of Ghana This boosts our chance of digitizing the Fante dialects.
- Most of the participants were females, this is a stepping stone to bridge the gender gap
- This project has lead to the creating of the new Fante Wikimedia Community

Learning
[edit]Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
It was interesting and fun having to get views of participants on certain words before coming into consensus on which ones should be used.
This project served as a platform to discuss terminology in general.
This project has lead to the creating of the new Fante Wikimedia Community. This was because the event hosted individuals, linguistics and experts in Fante who wanted to contribute to Wikipedia and its sister projects as well as in the Fante Dialect
- What did not work so well?
There was a challenge with diction so we intend to find the right terminologies for the Fante Language
Getting direct translations for some words in Fante language was very difficult so we transliterated some words instead of translating
- What would you do differently next time?
Though we had some language experts, we will request the services of more of them to complete the task in time.

Anything else
[edit]Anything else you want to share about your project?
Participants benefited a lot from this project for they learnt from the language experts the rules in translation and the rules that govern the spelling and pronunciations. Also this project has led to a new emerging community Fante Wikimedia Community
