Learning[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well? The participants active contributions were encouraging and also the presence of the WMF representative made every participants to actively contribute to existing projects on Phabricator. Besides, we had the presence of an Active Wikimedian who presented during the Global Hackathon on Accessibility for the People with Disabilities (PWDs).
  • What did not work so well? This is the first of its kind in Kwara state and a lots of web designers and technical writers underestimated their contributions to Wikimedia projects so some came on the first day and did not come on day 2 and vice versa.
  • What would you do differently next time? We would create breakout sessions so as to explore each participants skill. Keeping an active committee before the next hackathon will go a long way for the local event.
